St. Patrick's Family
St. Patrick's in the National Parks
Doug Carlson and Darlene Van Dyke in training on April 26 as Master Rangers for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park.

Rangers Carlson and Van Dyke will travel on Amtrak to Birmingham and back this summer to educate passengers on the Civil Rights Movement, Southern music and culture, and natural history -- or what's outside the window. They are prepared to answer the first question every ranger hears: where's the bathroom? And the second: which way to the diner?

The trips are part of a joint program between the National Park Service and Amtrak, Trails and Rails, to educate on the National Parks and train travel on Amtrak. In our case, they are part of a ministry of racial reconciliation and the rich national history on the route of this train, the  Crescent .
