Staffing Announcement
Shirley and the Vestry are delighted to announce the call of our new Assistant Rector, Darren Steadman. Darren will shepherd the many lay teams working in Worship Management and Pastoral Care ministries as well as spearhead our new outreach to Young Adults. Darren graduates from Virginia Seminary in May, with his Master of Divinity and will be ordained, God-willing, on June 9 as a transitional deacon. You are invited to attend the Ordination to the Diaconate.
Darren has worked as a Camp Director at our Episcopal Shrine Mont, a Youth Minister for St. Thomas of Richmond, a science teacher for Richmond City schools, and a math teacher for Henrico County schools. He calls Richmond home, and Darren and his fiancée, Abby, are to be married in November. Darren will begin his ministry with us on June 13, 2018. Please get ready to welcome him!
Bishop Susan Goff will visit CCE on May 6
Join us on Sunday, May 6 as we welcome in worship The Rt. Rev. Susan Goff, Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Virginia. Bishop Goff’s special presence and captivating sermons are not to be missed! Around 12:00 PM, please join us for a finger-foods reception and a conversation with Bishop Susan in the Garage after the 10:45 AM service. Bishop Susan is well known for her pastoral presence, her understanding of the challenges of life, and her mission-oriented view of the Church in the world. Come ask her your questions!
Song of the Redeemed: A benefit concert for Haiti

Haiti is a nation faced with many challenges and the people of Haiti are resilient, enterprising, and brave. Amidst deep political corruption, the church is an effective source of aid in Haiti. Song of the Redeemed, a benefit concert, will be shared free of charge and participants will have the opportunity to make a donation to our mission efforts. Join us for a narrated, multi-media worship concert to help us understand the brokenness of Haiti, and the hope of redemption. Help us make a real and long-lasting difference in the lives of others! Free admission | Open the public | Nursery Care

You donate food every time we have a food drive. Now, consider going one step further.
We need a couple of folks to help plan and execute our food drives for FeedMore. FeedMore is Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization dedicated to providing neighbors in need with healthy meals and hope for a better tomorrow. With a service area that stretches across 34 cities and counties, FeedMore helps the nearly 200,000 children, families and seniors in Central Virginia who struggle with hunger.

At Christ Church, we need folks to help set up a collection station (get creative!), collect the food (good exercise!), and take it to FeedMore (road trip!) This would be an excellent opportunity for a family or group of church friends to serve together.
