In May, MEM participated in two great events the helped to connect students and alumni to the Chicago technology eco-system.

Hosted in association with  Society of Women Engineers Chicago Regional Section and IEEE Women in Engineering, MEM sponsored a networking event at UI LABS on May 16.  The event included a presentation - "Heart, Gut, and Brain: Forging Your Path" by Caralynn Nowinski Collens, CEO of UI LABS followed by networking reception with various industry representatives.  UI LABS is an innovation accelerator that brings Universities, Industry, and Government together to deliver solutions to tomorrow's challenges.

On May 22, Jim Coffing, Lead IP Counsel at Motorola Solutions and Vice President of Northwestern Alumni Association, hosted MEM students for a tour of the Motorola Solutions Innovation Center in downtown Chicago. The tour enabled students to learn about Motorola Solutions position as market leader in public safety communication devices. Students gained first hand knowledge about technologies, sensors and communication devices for police and fire personnel and also how Motorola Solutions is leading the way by incorporating analytics in its product-line.  The post-tour networking reception allowed students to interact with MEM alumni and key personnel from various functions including CTO, Paul Steinberg.  A special thanks to MEM alum, Jim Coffing, for arranging this great event!
