The Switzer Foundation is undertaking a strategic review process, and we are reaching out to Switzer Fellows to ask for your help and input by participating in a short survey. We would like to hear about your experiences as part of the Switzer Network and your ideas for the foundation's future. All participants will be registered in a drawing to win a set of Switzer Fellow-authored books!
It has been several years since we last surveyed our fellows, and our goal is to get all of our nearly 700 fellows to complete the survey. We know how busy you all are, but your ideas and feedback are critical for the foundation's future planning.

Join the TEDx Switzer Countdown Event
TED launched Countdown, a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, on October 10. We are joining the movement with our own TEDx Switzer Countdown event on Thursday, November 12, 12:30 - 2 p.m. PST / 3:30 - 5 p.m. EST.
Plan to be moved and inspired by global leaders and Switzer Fellows working on climate change solutions. This will be a chance to join together as a network, learn something new, and be energized to work on the greatest environmental issues of our time. Phasing out is not enough - the problem with fluorinated chemicals in wildlife
A class of chemicals called per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are found in the blood of 99 percent of U.S. adults, as well as babies in the womb and children. But PFAS pollution isn't limited to humans. They are found in juvenile seabirds, too. How does a compound banned two decades ago remain so abundant in wildlife around the globe today? Democratizing Environmental Data: Panel Discussion & Reports Release Thursday, October 22 3 p.m. PDT / 6 p.m. EDT This event, hosted by the Environmental Data & Governance Initiative (EDGI) and co-sponsored by the Union of Concerned Scientists, will present the outcomes of a series of workshops Lourdes Vera helped facilitate on themes she discussed in our June Race and Equity Discussion Group session on Environmental Data Justice. Panelists include Hannah Vogel, the policy advisor to Senator Ed Markey, and members of the Environmental Investigation Agency.

Olivia Walton has been selected by The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) for its fifth class of 30 leaders under the age of 30.
Linda Shi published and lectured on how green infrastructure can advance both social justice and regional impact.
Steven Moch was named Associate Editor of Managing Climate Risk in the Financial System, the first wide-ranging federal government study focused on the specific impacts of climate change on Wall Street.
Lissa Widoff is serving as the interim executive director of Midcoast Conservancy and helping the organization find a new executive director.
Kevin Kung's organization, Takachar, was one of the winners of the Coastal Pollution Challenge. They also recently published two journal articles on the localized utilization of biomass in California.
Lara Cushing and Rachel Morello-Frosch published an equity analysis of California's clean vehicle rebate programs.
Mike Antos will serve a two-year term on the California Water Data Consortium's inaugural Steering Committee.

The Grand Canyon Trust is seeking a Legislative and Policy Director, and Matt Williamson worked as Program Director for the trust before returning to grad school. Matt says, "Really interesting organization and one that continues to be very dynamic. Happy to chat with anyone considering applying to this position!" Application review started October 12, but applications are still being accepted.

Christine Lee's group (JPL terrestrial hydrology group/329F) has a job open that she'd be happy to answer questions about. It is for a scientist to work on hydrologic research and applications aided by Earth-orbiting satellites.
Beckie Menten is looking to bring on a fellow via the Climate Corps program, sponsored by Strategic Energy Innovations. She writes, "This would be a relatively entry level program suitable for a recent graduate. We're really emphasizing diversity in the applicant pool over specific job experience and would appreciate the support distributing this posting among minority specific industry groups you may be tied into."
