HAGERSTOWN, MD (April 17, 2018) – The Washington County Government Solid Waste Department is collaborating with Grosh’s Lawn Service to promote the 2018 Phone Book Recycling Challenge. The challenge will be taking place April 23 – 27 between local schools within Washington County.

Tony Drury, recycling programs coordinator for Washington County, says, “This challenge is a great way to get kids involved in recycling and it helps them to understand just how important it is to keep recyclable items out of our landfills. Washington County schools alone have helped to save over 455 trees, 1700 gallons of oil, and 80 cubic yards of landfill space just through their efforts in the phone book challenge.”
