Muslim Association of Lehigh Valley
Ramadan Announcements
Ramadan Mubarak

O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may be mindful. (Al-Baqarah 2:183)

As we are nearing the blessed month of Ramadan, we should be grateful to Allah for granting us yet another opportunity in our life to worship, repent, and resolve to be better during and after Ramadan. The Prophet PBUH never wished for a longer life except when Ramadan approached by saying, "Oh Allah bless us in the month of Shaban and let us witness Ramadan."

The importance of this month is known to all Muslim and with this knowledge comes obligations. May Allah bless us to fast and increase our balance of good deeds in this holy month.

This year, we welcome Ramadan in the midst of increasing Islamophobia which makes it necessary to be vigilant against bigotry and hate crimes.  We are taking all the necessary precautions to assure the safety of those who come to the masjid.  We are already working with local law enforcement to provide increased police presence during the Jumuah, and tarawih prayers. We have also established a security committee and are working hard to secure the masjid from any and all threats. May Allah SWT protect and preserve us and all the Ummah around the globe.

Fundraising Dinner--May 18th:

Please mark your calendar for our fundraising dinner. We have set ourselves a humble goal of raising $250k to help us in repayment of construction loans, mosque operations and imam expenses. Additionally, funds are required for critical interfaith activities and for helping local Muslim families through assistance programs.

You and your family have supported our mosque for many years and we continue to rely on your generosity. Your bountiful donations, prayers and encouragement have brought us to this point. Please help us meet our outstanding commitments and join us for the fundraising dinner on Saturday, May 18th at 7:00 pm.

Zakat-al-Fitr:

We will be accepting Zakat-al-Fitr during the entire month of Ramadan and these funds will be distributed to the needy Muslims in Lehigh Valley and beyond. The minimum amount will be $10 / person and head of household is responsible for it.

Zakat-al-Maal donations will also be accepted and distributed according to the Quran and Sunnah to needy Muslims in Lehigh Valley.

Consider Your Neighbors:

In this holy month of Ramadan we strive to be the best of ourselves by imitating the characteristics of our beloved Prophet (PBH) who has been sent as the mercy to mankind. We strive to come closer to our Creator by doing spiritual supplications as well as serving His creations. Even though we try our best to be good to our family, friends, and neighbors, sometimes inadvertently we create problems for other people through our actions. One of these actions is causing noise and disturbing our neighbors around MALV. After a great night of Ibadah, when we leave the Masjid some of us speak/chat loudly in the parking lot or slam our car doors while our neighbors are at sleep or trying to sleep. Next time when you leave the Masjid after Tarawee, please consider our neighbors and leave the lobby quietly. Please do not take your conversations outside the building. Jazak Allahu khair for considering this request and try to be your best to our neighbors.

On behalf of MALV administration and leadership we would like to wish you, your families, the entire community a very blessed Ramadan.
