Musk, Magic & Much-Needed "Conversation"
No one is talking about a fully-sustainable way of living in the future -- one that Mother Nature would approve. So, how do we jump-start that much-needed conversation

Let's start with Magic. I recently heard Elon Musk use that term in a June 2020 video, when he cited a quote by Arthur C. Clarke, an inventor, futurist and science fiction writer:

Sufficiently advanced technology is
indistinguishable from magic!

With that in mind, Elon went on to reinforce that statement by suggesting that if we go back 300 years, many things that we take for granted now -- would end up causing you to be burned at the stake if you even talked about them.

He was speaking of being able to fly, being able to see long distances, or being able to have access to all the world's information instantly on your hand-held device.

As he said, those kinds of things would be considered "magic" in times past. Meanwhile, the magic that I am talking about is the magic that is possible using today's technology to quickly begin moving in the direction of living sustainably on this planet.

We have the knowledge and technology to get it done. We just need the inspired leadership that is required to make it all happen.

Consider the Possibilities. What if Elon Musk started publicly talking about an ultra-modern civilization of the future that is capable of co-existing in harmony with nature -- a future civilization that could become a reality in a few decades -- using today's technology?

I contend that if he simply started talking about it, within a very short time, the whole world might be ready to give it a try. Why do I say that?

Because that is exactly what happened when he started talking about hyperloop transportation systems in 2013. Now, in 2020, there is an actual project underway in Dubai that may be operable in just a few years.

In the July 2020 video below, credit is given to Musk for having the original idea -- and envisioning in 2013 how it would work. Since then, he founded the Boring Company that will likely play a key role in the world's hyperloop systems of the future. You can check out the Musk portion of this video at about the 2:50 mark:

As you may know from reading my SOS Memos, I concluded long ago that, based on his phenomenal track record to date:

Elon Musk could likely accomplish almost any challenge that he chose to make his #1 priority --including the BIG ONE -- figuring out a way to save our species.

Sadly, he has shown no inclination toward that kind of thinking. He is still playing the game of commercial business and is more focused on humans living on Mars and other planets than he is on how our billions of descendants will be able to survive on our mother planet.

So how do we get his attention? That's where the word, CONVERSATION, comes in. The more people who begin talking about a futuristic, ultra-sustainable civilization of the future, the more likely that Elon Musk and others will join the discussion and take it to a whole new level.

We talk about Elon in our book, Outcry, where he is quoted talking about the future:

If you think about the future, you want it to be better than the past -- a future that is exciting and one that people want to be a part of.

Following his lead, that is the kind of future civilization we describe in Outcry -- an overall way of living that is already possible, using today's technology.

In our book, the hyperloop transportation system is central to the overall appeal of the futuristic lifestyle that is envisioned in what we call the Great Big Northern (GBN), a 3,000 mile living corridor where up to 300 million humans can enjoy living comfortable, meaningful, and sustainable lives that are 4 or 5 times more Earth-friendly than the lives we are living today.

FYI, transportation history was made exactly ten days ago, when the first human passengers ever - actually traveled safely on a hyperloop. Check it out at this link

As for being Earth-friendly, just consider this amazing statistic. The total footprint of the envisioned massive corridor that we call the GBN is about the size of the state of Oregon, making it possible to return the vast majority of land that we humans now occupy -- back to nature.

The Bottom Line. So, how do we jump-start a GBN kind of project in the USA? It could be as simple as attracting the attention of Elon Musk. And how do we do that?

It could be as simple as forwarding a link to this SOS Memo to someone who might know someone who knows Elon Musk. That link, SOS #80, is near the top of the list on this SOS Memo page

Or it could be as simple as doing all that you can to jump-start the crucial conversation about how we are ever going to learn to live in harmony with nature. As part of that effort, you might wish to share the link below with everyone you know. It directs you to my SOS Memos page that is all about...

Here are links to recent SOS Memos that have featured the amazing work of Elon Musk.

In closing, please contact me directly if you would like to discuss how we might work together to help jolt the entire world into thinking differently about how we can survive and thrive indefinitely on planet Earth.

FYI, part of that last phrase comprises the title of the final chapter of Outcry

Sincerely,

J. Morris (Jim) Hicks

PS: For your convenience, here is another link to the video mentioned earlier when Elon was talking about magicThis *video, posted in June of 2020, has been viewed over 1.4 million times.

Apparently, I must be part of the one percent Elon is talking about below. That's because I've been writing and speaking about jump-starting this "conversation" for over two years and so far, I have failed.

Elon Musk's Life Advice Will Change Your Future (MUST WATCH)

*For the record, much of the content of the above video was lifted from a June, 2018 commencement speech that Musk delivered at Cal Tech.

Our book, for a host of environmental reasons, is only available as an e-book on Amazon. As such, it contains hyperlinks to hundreds of references and videos, is less expensive, does not kill any trees and does not have to be manufactured and delivered.

You can join my mailing list and/or find all of my previous postings by visiting the SOS Memos page on my websiteHere are a few of them where you can see how my vision has evolved since that first "creative idea" on 9-21-18:

As always, I am just trying to spark a global conversation about what is needed. By sharing a vision of what I believe is possible, I hope to influence others to think bigger, better and bolder.
********************

As for speaking, I continue to search for mainstream audiences who may have an interest in learning more about a realistically hopeful vision for our future - and their role in making that vision come true.

In the months ahead, I will continue to focus on the urgent need for a totally reinvented greening of our civilization - beginning with a model in the USA that could be applied globally over the next fifty years.

Upcoming talks: There are lots of open dates on my calendar and I look forward to the opportunity of tailoring my presentation to best suit an audience you may have in mind:

Universities, churches,  book groups, legislative bodies, think-tanks, environmental organizations, alumni associations, leadership clubs, PTA's, family, neighbors
and/or civic groups who may appreciate a message of reality and hope for our future.

Please let me hear from you directly regarding any ideas or questions you may have.

What else can you do to help? Three things:

1. Live as greenly as possible while doing all that you can to raise the awareness of "big picture" solutions that are crucially necessary for saving our civilization.

2. Share this BSB and my "Mama Ain't Happy" BSB with prominent journalists, thought leaders and/or elected officials whom you respect. They need to learn a lot more about the many reasons why Mama ain't happy.

3. Here are a few more GRATOLA-related blogs that you can share with your most powerful friends, leaders, journalists and movie producers.

Until next time, just remember...

Humanity is on a collision course with Nature.
A damaged Nature will survive. We may not.
We must change course to avert an ecological disaster.
