While the older 4-H members are participating in interview judging in Kirk Hall, Cloverbuds have their own fair activity at the Event Center.
 
There will be crafts, games, and treats.  This is a free event just for Cloverbuds! You must register for this event in ShoWorks by June 13th to participate. Click the link below, create an account, and look for "Cloverbud Activites".
After Primary Fair, starting at 12:30 pm, Cloverbuds can take one item they’ve made during the year (i.e. a drawing, something made out of clay, any type of arts and crafts…) and have their own special interview with a Cloverbud judge at Kirk Hall. This interview is not for placing, but they will receive a participation ribbon. Please also register for this interview in ShoWorks.

Douglas County Fair
Poultry ID Day

June 10th, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Multi-Purpose Barn
All 4-H members and their birds going to fair MUST attend Poultry ID Day. Each club has a designated time to attend - see schedule below. If the member is not able to attend, please find someone to bring the birds on June 10th.
EXCEPTION: Exhibitors with market poultry and meat pen birds are not required to attend; HOWEVER, the member must enter their market birds/meat pen birds in ShoWorks by June 13th. All other poultry entries must come to this day.

We will have computers and people to assist you at ID day to enter your information into ShoWorks . It is highly recommended that you enter your birds into ShoWorks at ID Day.

If you do not enter in ShoWorks on June 10th, you will be given a copy of your entry form(s) with classes at ID day and will need to enter them in ShoWorks by June 13th to show at Fair.

Douglas County Fair Rabbit ID Day

All 4-H members and their rabbits going to fair MUST attend the ID day on June 10th. If the member is not able to attend, please find someone to bring the rabbits on June 10th. Please call Robin Vogel at 303-514-2053 in advance to arrange for this change.    
Exceptions:
  • Market/Meat Pen Exhibitors are not required to attend; HOWEVER the member must enter their market/meat pen rabbits in ShoWorks by June 13th. 

  • Rabbits too young to ID on June 10th will have an ID Day on June 27th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Multipurpose Building.
Any rabbit not checked in on ID Day will not be allowed to be shown at the county fair.

Cloverbud Activities at Fair
Mini Open Sheep Lead

Sheep Lead for Cloverbuds will be on August 4th during Fair in the Livestock Pavilion. All youth ages 7 and under (as of 12/31/17) are invited to participate. Cloverbud membership is not required. The purpose of this contest is to present sheep and handlers in an attractive manner and show the beauty and versatility of wool.
 
You must enter in ShoWorks by July 20th to participate in this contest.
 
To enter in Showorks, create or log into your account, go to “Sheep Lead”, and then choose “Mini Open Sheep Lead”.

Stuffed Cat Show

The Cloverbud Stuffed Cat Show will be held in the Multipurpose Barn, south side, on July 28 th at 11:00 am in conjunction with the live Cat Show for 4-Hers. There will be a separate area designated for Cloverbuds where they NOT be handling live cats, and only participation ribbons will be awarded.

Cloverbuds who would like to participate must enter in ShoWorks by June 13th. You must be a Cloverbud to participate.

Registered Cloverbuds for this event will arrive between 8:00 am - 8:30 am on July 28th and should bring their stuffed cat(s), a "cage" (this can be a shoe box), and supplies to decorate their cage at the event. They will have the opportunity to participate in Showmanship and Confirmation.

4-H Sheep Lead Contest
This is a great time to think about the 4-H Sheep Lead Contest! It will be held on Saturday, August 4th during Fair in the Livestock Pavilion.
 
Contestants do not have to be enrolled in a sheep or sewing project to enter. Outfits must be a majority of wool. Watch for wool items in the end-of-winter sales happening now and be ready for a great time at a great contest!

4-H Project Record Book Covers

The 4-H Youth Council has e-Record Book Covers for sale for only $5.00 /cover.

You can purchase the project record books from the Extension Office. We can only accept cash or check made out to
“DC 4-H Council”. 
For all Record Books:

The mileage rate is $0.545 per mile.
4-H Project Display Boards on Sale

All projects requiring a display board must be done on a tri-fold show board. Dimensions need to be 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall. The 4-H Leader’s Council has them available for only $5.00 /board at the Extension Office. We can only accept cash or check made out to “DC Leaders Council”.   
A note about show boards!
We have noticed that some tri-fold show boards are available at area stores are SMALLER than the dimensions required by the state: 4ft X 3ft.
 
BEWARE! A board not meeting size requirements could disqualify your project.

Fashion Revue
July 16, Kirk Hall
The 2018 Fashion Revue will be held in Kirk Hall, Douglas County Fairgrounds on July 16th. Judging will be held at 2:00 pm, workshops at 3:30 pm, and public review is at 6:00 pm.
 
Members enrolled in clothing construction, (exception: Sewing for Others) Upcycle your Style, Creative Sewing, Heritage Arts, Buymanship, Recycled Clothing, and Leathercraft are eligible to participate if (1) they personally have made the project and (2) if it is a wearable garment. Accessories made are not eligible unless it is part of the project outfit.
To participate in the Fashion Revue, you must enter in ShoWorks by June 13th.

Age categories: Jr. 8-13 and Sr. 14-18

EMAIL your commentary of 100-125 words describing you modeling your garment to tina.obryan@colostate.edu by close of business on July 5th. The commentary is part of Fashion Revue. If we do not receive the commentary by that date you will not be able to participate. No exceptions.

Please use the following numbers to complete the page in your record book entitled:

“Comparison of Market vs. Fair Prices” or “Income Record Page”
These numbers are provided so you can estimate your income and overall profit or loss on your projects. You must complete these pages in your record book and turn in to your leader by July 3rd.
