The Wave
June 1, 2018
I stand in awe of the generosity and warm spirit of our community.   We were able to create a space of gratitude for all to share their thoughts and wishes for the adventures I have yet to take.  The heart felt speeches were humbling.  It certainly take the village to do it right!  Thank you all for coming and making me feel so at peace with my next phase of life.  There is a transition phase to this work in effect, that will take me through the summer and next year.  Although you won't see me, I will be supporting and working with the staff and new leadership of TRCS.   My fervid hope is that this magical school will continue to grace our families - shaping empowered students who knew who they are always.  After all, isn't that the point of all of our work together?  To know that you have always tried your best is the recipe for success - for all of us.

I will see you Independent Project Night to celebrate our young learners success!

Summer Bridge Activities
A great set of activities, can be found in this resource that we highly recommend.  We have some samples of these books as well. They are organized by weeks and have all kinds of academic, physical and mental activities for your kids to use to keep them on their toes.  We know that sometimes it can get boring doing the same types of "workbook" types of activities.  This set of books have experiments, art projects, math problems etc etc etc.  We wanted to send this out, as it is a reasonable price and will help to BRIDGE the year from Spring to Fall.  We found these last year to Learning Palace in Lake Grove, but here is the publisher as well.  You can also find them on Amazon for easy ordering.  Use this link to help you find what you need.

SUMMER SKILLS SHARPENER!
The summer months are the best time in the world to sharpen up those skills.  We have found that this set up books, seems to be a very useful way to help your kids keep themselves in the game over the long months!  They are grade leveled and can be purchased online.  We have samples in the front hallway if you want to stop by and take a peek.  We highly recommend them!  Use this link to find what you might need!

INDEPENDENT PROJECTS ARE HERE!
We are all working on the last finishing touches to all of the work that the kids have completed on their own PASSION PROJECTS! We will have handicapped parking only in the school parking lot.  We will have staff stationed at Athey Creek Church to direct you to parking.  Please help us by planning to park and as we have staff to help you, carefully come across the street.  We don't have the capacity in the parking lot for the amount of cars that come to this event.  We will start at 7:00 PM in the back!  There are chairs there.  We have gifts inside for all of you - don't forget to pick them up!  We also will be serving Strawberry Shortcake (our pleasure) throughout the evening.  We are so proud of all of the kids.  We will be having them introduce themselves to kick of the evening.  Please have your kids line up outside by 6:50 so that everything is set by 7:00 PM.  WE ARE HERE!  It is truly a night of celebration!
Friday June 6, 2018
Next Friday, all of our teachers will be busy writing report cards.  Our card this term is focused on work habits, those self-directed times that you work to get projects completed.  The set of skills needed will be outlined and have been assessed by our team.  The report cards will also carry Outdoor School, electives, PE and term 3 classes.  Our Currents magazine will be mailed to you on June 8th - in hopes of its arrival by June 12th.  We have outlined our report card thoughts and spotlighted honor roll and 4.0 students.  Please be sure to watch for it.  Term 3 report cards will be sent to you in an electronic form on 6/12/18.  They will be password protected, as always.  We hope that you enjoy reading and seeing the marvelous work that your kids have been producing.  It has been quite a term - full of light and laughter.  We look forward to sharing them with you.

ALL PROJECTS ARE DUE WEDNESDAY 6/6/18.  We will have plenty of AM and PM work time this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the students will be learning Lettering techniques and pulling together their display of learning.  We will have everything all set up and ready to go for Thursday evening!

As kids get finished, we have lots of "duties" that will be done - including a movie Wednesday Afternoon and lawn games Thursday Afternoon for the lucky ones that are using their time wisely.  We want to make sure that all students work toward turning in all work - demonstrating their best efforts.
