COTS Youth - Youth Mission Trip 2019 

Registration for Youth Mission Trip 2019 to Ironton, Ohio, is open!  Be the light of Christ by working on the homes of those who can't do it themselves.  Learn new skills.  Discover new friendships and strengthen old ones.  Experience the abundant life that Jesus came to offer.  YOU can make a difference.

General Info about the Youth Mission Trip

The Basics:
  • Who:        Youth entering 8th grade and older (includes college kids) – approx. 65 total
  • What:       Youth Mission Trip 2019
  • When:      Saturday, July 6, 11:30 am – Friday, July 12, 4:30 pm
  • Where:     Ironton, Ohio
  • Why:        3 Big Goals...
1. Work on the homes of those who can't do it themselves.
2. Be the light of Christ in the world.
3. Grow in our faith.
  • Transportation:       Personal vehicles (minivans and cars) and church bus.
  • How do I sign up?: Complete the registration form and submit by June 23.

 Living Situation:

  • Stay at First United Methodist Church of Ironton. 
  • Sleep on the floor – twin/single-size air mattresses allowed.
  • Showers are located at the nearby high school.  Bring a swimsuit in case no individual stalls.
  • Our kitchen crew will take care of meals, the youth will help.  The food is incredible.

 Working Situation:

  • Above all, we want everyone to be safe – safety glasses, ear plugs, for everyone.
  • Everyone must have an up-to-date tetanus booster and should bring sunscreen
  • Split into several adult-coached groups. Youth do the work (adults coach – youth execute).
  • Work may include building wheelchair ramps and decks, roofing, drywalling, painting, cleaning.  It’s primarily home repair/ replacement/ improvement type of work.
  • Sites will likely be within a half-hour or so.
  • Sites are arranged by Jackson Area Ministries and our host church.
  • Whenever possible, there is a lot of focus on building a relationship with the folks we meet and work for.

 Spiritual Situation:

  • Daily focus on a segment of our theme provides focus and topic of discussion.
  • Youth lead devotions with the adults.

Funding Situation:

  • Proceeds from the Christmas Greens sale.
  • Registration fee of $50 for each mission tripper (adults, young adults, and youth).  Scholarships are readily available, please see Curt.
  • In addition, every youth needs to sell $160 worth of stock.  That totals $210 per youth.
  • Adults and Young Adults don’t need to sell – already dedicating a week of their time.
