Dear MMAMTA members,
Much belated May greetings! Many of you are busy preparing for various studio and senior recitals, Piano Guild, and graduation of some of your favorite students. Here's hoping storm will subside and more pleasant, sunny spring days will be ahead of us.
To review: Back in February/March,
Musicathon 2019
was held and it was another success - much thanks to all of you. Treasurer Dr. Janice Wenger reports that
Columbia gave $448 to Volunteer Action Center, and Jeff City $775 to Samaritan Center.
On April 6, MMAMTA hosted its annual
Scholarship Auditions
in Jefferson City, chaired by Karen Larvick. The judge this year was Gary Sanders. Congratulations to the award winners and their teachers for an impressive result! This year,
Josephine Turner, Abby Whitt, and Abigail Chaney were selected for awards, the first two to camps and Abigail for college.
We have the Piano Guild coming up beginning next mid-week, but more importantly, we also have our annual
Spring Luncheon on May 23
. Please RSVP Ayako at
atsuruta@aol.com
by this Mother's Day weekend if you have not already; thank you to those of you who already have confirmed the attendance.
For those of you who are new to the Spring Luncheon, it is used to discuss the next academic year's calendar - often including non-MMAMTA but related musical events such as Federation, Piano Showcase, Concerto Competition, etc. Regardless of your teaching field, I highly recommend you attend this meeting, so that you know event opportunities available for your students in Columbia and in Jefferson City.
Some important dates to recap from last Newsletter:

- May 16-18 [Thu-Sat]: Houser, Gillam & Larvick studios. Jefferson City chair: Jan Houser.
