Summer Open House

Members of the community are invited to attend Raritan Valley Community College's Summer Open House, May 30, 6-8 p.m. The event, designed for high school students and adults who are interested in pursuing a college degree or certificate, will be held in the Conference Center at RVCC's Branchburg campus.

Jumpstart College Program

As a high school junior or senior, you can earn college credits with RVCC's Jumpstart College Program. Designed specifically with you in mind, this early college program allows you to jumpstart your college education with classes, smoothly transition from high school to college and earn credits along the way.

Information Sessions, Campus Tours

Learn about all RVCC has to offer by attending an Information Session in May. The College is offering a General Information Session and special sessions for those interested in its Automotive Technology, Cosmetology and Esthetics (Skin
Care) career programs.

Honors College Information Session

Local high school seniors interested in learning more about RVCC's Honors College are invited to attend an Information Session, May 15, 6-8 p.m. The event will be held in the Atrium (lower level, College Center) at RVCC's Branchburg campus.

Transfer Agreement for Toy Design Program

RVCC is the first community college in the country to sign an agreement with the Fashion Institute of Technology that will facilitate the transfer of RVCC graduates who are interested in studying the highly specialized field of toy design at FIT.

RVCC's chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has received a host of awards this spring at both the regional and international conventions.

Engineering Students Present at National Conference

Four RVCC students recently had an opportunity to present their engineering projects to academic and industry professionals at the American Society for Engineering Education Conference in Niagara, NY.

Beauty Students Take Action to Raise Awareness

Raising awareness about sexual assault on college campuses and in the community has led RVCC Cosmetology and Esthetics students to take action against the problem through a service learning project. The students participated in a yearlong domestic violence training program conducted by Safe in Hunterdon.

Professional Development

RVCC's Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies will offer a professional development opportunity for teachers during its Learning Through Experience program, May 14, 10 am-12:30 pm. The program will include My Heart in a Suitcase, a performance by ArtsPower commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Kindertransport, and a talk by Thiel Thiel, a survivor of the genocide in Sudan.

CELEBRATING RVCC SUCCESS 
New Poetry Books

Two poetry books by Michael Griffith, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Communication, were recently published. Bloodline (The Blue Nib) features poetry about families and domestic life. The book's title poem has been nominated for the 2018 Pushcart Prize for poetry.

Griffith's second book, Exposed, offers poetry focusing on recovery, drawing on his experiences as a patient overcoming a disability-causing injury. The print version of Exposed was published by Hidden Constellation Press; the eBook version was created by Soma Publishing.          

Children's Book

RVCC Planetarium Director Amie Gallagher is the scientific advisor for The First Moon Landing (Little Golden Book series), a new children's book about the Apollo 11 mission. Published this month to mark the upcoming 50th anniversary of the mission, the book shares the fascinating story behind what happened on July 20, 1969, when two human beings walked on the Moon for the very first time.    

PLANETARIUM
Star Shows & Laser Concerts, Music by Pink Floyd

The RVCC Planetarium will present star shows and laser concerts for all ages in May, including a laser show featuring music by Pink Floyd. In addition, a special Astronomy Day will offer hands-on activities.
