A Turning Point – Stephanie and Za’Quabian

For 47 years, Pivot has been A Turning Point for Youth by helping young people in our community who are sometimes homeless or couch homeless, alone or disengaged. Please take this opportunity to hear from two of the resilient youth we work with — Stephanie and Za’Quabian. They both bravely shared their stories and wanted to share how Pivot and friends like you have been a positive force for change in their young lives. A special 'thank you' to our friends at ICG for helping tell their story. Watch the video here .
Pivot Announces President and CEO

Pivot, A Turning Point for Youth, has named Jennifer Goodrich President and CEO.

"Jennifer’s breadth of knowledge and depth of passion for our mission is well evidenced over the 20 years she has worked within our walls,” said Peter Fulmer, board of trustees’ chair. “Her ability to change the lives of those we serve and spread the message of our organization will serve us well going forward. We are grateful to have her in this role at Pivot."

Goodrich has been with Pivot for 20 years as a therapist and supervisor, most recently serving as Vice President of Programs. She has 25 years of professional experience in nonprofit, mental health and substance abuse counseling.

“I have never been more proud and excited to be a part of Pivot than I am right now,” said Goodrich. “From innovative programming, our dedicated and passionate staff, as well as connection to committed community partners will continue to make a mark on youth who struggle with homelessness, stability and opportunity. Together, we will continue to grow our impact on the community, connect with those in need and empower the youth we serve to reach their full potential.”
Thoughts from the President and CEO

First, what an honor to be communicating with you as Pivot’s new President and CEO. This organization has been my heart and focus the last 20 years, and I cannot wait to continue my journey in this role and get to know you, our friends and supporters.

Many of you I had the opportunity to meet for the first time at One Eighty, an evening benefiting Pivot . What a fun night and great way to raise awareness and critical funds to ensure Pivot can provide the resources and care the youth we serve deserve! We are thankful for the compassion and generosity of those who support our mission, and most importantly, the youth we serve.

I'd be remiss if I did not mention the time of year we find ourselves in — a memorable season for teenagers everywhere, with many milestones happening. Many teens have just celebrated prom, their various award ceremonies, putting on caps and gowns for graduation and planning their future. Because of you, the teens we serve have an opportunity to be like any other teen — to attend prom, stay in school and receive their diploma and have hope for a bright future.

These things are possible because people like you give. You give your time, your expertise and your financial support allowing Pivot to equip youth so they can dramatically change the trajectory of their lives — helping them transition from a life of fear and instability to one of hope and opportunity.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

One Eighty, an evening benefiting Pivot

We would like to thank everyone who joined us for One Eighty, an evening benefiting Pivot . The evening was a fun way to invest in the vital work of Pivot and we are excited to announce the event raised nearly $245,000, which will directly impact the youth Pivot serves. Thanks to all of those who supported our efforts!

The idea behind the new concept for One Eighty is that food has the power to comfort and connects us through the experience of sharing a meal. Well-known local chefs Bruce Rinehart, Rococo, J. Mays, Hamilton, Robby Vernon, Hacienda and Janet Rosebeary, Rosebeary's Bakery created signature dishes for the event based on a Pivot youth’s fond memory of a childhood meal.

Pivot also honored business leader and philanthropist H.E. “Gene” Rainbolt at the event for his passion and support in meeting the needs of the resilient youth served by Pivot. Mr. Rainbolt is constantly seeking ways to ensure youth are given a life filled with hope and opportunity, allowing marginalized youth to create lasting positive change through stable housing, meals, education, job training, life skills, and mental and physical health services.

We’d also like to take this time to thank this year’s generous sponsors. Legend sponsor was BancFirst. Champion sponsors included the Arnall Family Foundation, Birchall and Hampton, Downing Holdings, Inc. and Sonic, America’s Drive-In. Hero sponsors included BKD CPAs and Advisors, Jeff and Lori Blumenthal, Compellier, ICG, OGE Energy Corp., Oklahoma Cogeneration, LLC, Mindy Harris-Silk and William Silk, Stewart and Dee Terbush and Tinker Federal Credit Union

Thanks again to all who attended, or supported the event in another way. There are plenty of photos to share of the night. Check out all the fun photos from One Eighty here and here
When School is Out, the Need Does Not End

It won’t be long now, and schools will be closing their doors for the summer. For some youth, this means summer camp, visiting distant relatives or even going away for vacation in another city, state or country. But, for the youth served by Pivot, the summer months can be a challenge. The barriers are plenty and often feel even more insurmountable this time of year.

Suddenly, the food they depended on is gone. Hot nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch are no more. For those who are homeless and counted on school being their shelter for eight hours, well, that’s gone as well. Their days now lack structure. No schedule to stick to or place to be. Without a support system in place, teens are often expected to fend for themselves whether it be for food, transportation or just taking care of themselves.

When schools close, Pivot’s work isn’t suddenly done, in fact, it’s more critical than ever.

With help from Pivot, the barriers teens face are more manageable, even in the summertime. Teens have year-round access to basic needs and housing. They have adults they can depend on to help them with their education, life skills development and be a mentor to them. There is also assistance with job hunting and help through therapeutic care.

Please consider making a gift to support the work of Pivot and invest in the youth we serve.
