Dear Members and Friends:

During May, AMAC joins the national celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Please join us as we honor the culture, traditions and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders by following us on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Additionally, National Small Business Week is May 5-11. Small business owners are the backbone that fuel our economy and best represent the nation's 30 million small businesses. Did you know more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year? Do keep this in mind as minority and women-owned businesses remain an undeserved yet critical engine for economic growth and job creation.

I encourage you to meet with local entrepreneurs, visit small businesses and hold round-table discussions with leaders in your community. We applaud your commitment to these businesses that create 21st century jobs, drive innovation and increase our global competitiveness.

The AMAC Foundation Raises Over $5,000 During TopGolf Indianapolis Fundraiser to Assist Aspiring Aviation Youth
On May 2, the AMAC Foundation hosted a fundraiser at TopGolf Indianapolis with the goal of raising funds for its annual scholarship program. AMAC Foundation Board Members, AMAC Members and past scholars enjoyed a fun evening of golf and successfully raised over $5,000 that will go to the 2019-2020 scholarship fund. Thank you to all who participated!

AMAC Applauds Washington Lawmakers for Passing Initiative 1000
Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) President & CEO, Krystal J. Brumfield shares a statement on Washington State's Initiative 1000, a measure that overturns the state's 20-year-old, voter-approved ban on affirmative action in the operation of public education, public contracting and public employment.

AMAC Member Marshall J. Taggart, Jr. is the new Executive Director of the Montgomery Regional Airport. Taggart, who formerly served as Deputy Airport Director of DeKalb Peachtree Airport, Georgia's second busiest airport, was chosen from a national search.
