Comments Invited on IGF-OECD Draft Toolkits
The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) invite comments (by 18 May) on the following two draft toolkits:

  1. Monitoring the Value of Mineral Exports: A Toolkit for Policymakers
  2. Limiting the Impact of Excessive Interest Deductions on Mining Revenues

Lithuania to become 36th Member of OECD
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) announced yesterday that Lithuania will be formally invited to become a member of the Organisation during the May meeting of the OECD Council. Lithuania will become the 36th member once "it has taken the appropriate steps at the national level to accede to the OECD Convention and deposited its instruments of accession with the French government, the depository of the Convention." Meeting of the West and Central Africa Directors General of Customs Held in Guinea
The 23rd Conference of Directors General of Customs of the West and Central Africa region was held in Conakry, Guinea in late April. WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya attended the meeting and spoke about the current priorities of the WCO, including trade facilitation, e-commerce, security, Customs-Tax cooperation, illicit financial flows, and performance measurement. IMF Releases Country Report for Turkey
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) released Country Report No. 18/110 regarding Article IV Consultations with Turkey. The report includes a press release summarizing the Executive Board's views; the staff report following the February mission; an informational annex; and a statement by the Executive Director for Turkey. Australian Government Seeks Comments on Multinational Anti-Avoidance Law Draft Guidance
Earlier this week, the Australian Taxation Office released   new draft guidance on multinational anti-avoidance law (MAAL)   in an effort to define the meaning of the phrase "directly in connection with" that appears in the 2016 law. The ATO has requested feedback by 1 June. [ More Information ]
