Pakistan Cables Ltd. Now Qualified to Produce ACCC® Conductor in Pakistan

Pakistan Cables Limited has successfully passed CTC Global's arduous qualification testing and audit procedures which officially allows Pakistan Cables Ltd. to produce ACCC® Conductor for the Pakistan market.

In 2018, CTC Global and Pakistan Cables Limited announced their partnership to produce, distribute, market and sell ACCC electrical conductors in Pakistan. Pakistan Cables Limited is the country's first and leading manufacturer of wires, cables, overhead conductors, copper rod, PVC compound and aluminum profiles in Pakistan.

CTC Global will provide Pakistan Cables Limited with CTC Global's patented carbon fiber ACCC composite core. Pakistan Cables will manufacture and deliver ACCC conductors in a range of sizes tailored to meet the needs of Pakistan's electric transmission and distribution utilities.

J.D. Sitton, CTC Global's Chief Executive Officer stated: "Pakistan Cables is a recognized leader in high-quality overhead conductors and CTC Global is very pleased to partner with them to deliver high performance ACCC Conductors to their customers in Pakistan." Mr. Fahd K. Chinoy, Deputy Chief Executive at Pakistan Cables, added: "We are extremely proud that all of our hard work and efforts to produce this revolutionary technology in Pakistan for the first time have been successful. Pakistan Cables is working closely with Pakistan's transmission and distribution companies to take advantage of this high-performance solution."
CTC Global's Joint Venture Core Production Facility in Indonesia, CCI, Announces Expansion Plan

In November of 2017, CTC Global announced the opening of a new ACCC ® Conductor composite core production facility in Indonesia under a joint venture agreement with PT  Dinamika Elektra. PT Composite Core Indonesia (CCI), as it's known, is an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified facility located in Bekasi, Jawa Barat, just outside of Jakarta. The facility was established to accelerate the adoption of ACCC conductors and the growth of the high-performance conductor industry in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

CCI's board recently approved plans to expand the CCI production facility. John Mansfield, CCI's President Director stated: "Strength in the regional demand for ACCC Conductors, continued execution by PLN of its major electrification mandate, and solid support from CTC's authorized manufacturing partners are driving the need for more production capacity in the region. The CCI facility and team have done an outstanding job of delivering excellent ACCC core and the board and I are confident in them."

The CCI expansion is expected to come on line later this year.

Grid Operator AEMO in Australia Focusing on Transmission Line Losses Linking Renewable Energy to Consumers - CTC Global Offers a Solution

Earlier this month the Australian Energy Market Operator published a final ruling on Marginal Loss Factors. The ruling, which takes effect on July 1st, is expected to have a profound impact on the economics of renewable generation projects in Australia.

Specifically, developers of wind and solar farms face a cut to revenues based on the difference between generation output and actual power delivered - taking transmission line losses into consideration.

The "derating" of many projects in the queue may make it much more difficult to justify critical investment, and existing generation assets may see a substantial cut in revenue.

CTC Global, based in Irvine, California, USA has proposed one possible solution.

In 2005, CTC Global commercialized a new type of bare overhead conductor frequently used to increase the capacity of existing transmission lines. The product, known as ACCC Conductor uses a hybrid carbon fiber core to replace the steel core generally used to support overhead aluminum conductive wires.

While the ACCC Conductor is capable of carrying twice the current of conventional steel reinforced conductors, its lighter weight core allows the use of approximately 30 percent more conductive aluminum which serves to reduce line losses by a whopping 30 to 40 percent. Reduction in line losses can subsequently rebalance the marginal loss factor issue described by AEMO.

According to AMEO: "New generation is increasingly connecting at the periphery of the transmission network, including northwest Victoria, southwest NSW, and north and central Queensland. In these areas, access to renewable resources is good, yet the network is electrically weak and remote from the regional reference node."

CTC Global believes that upgrading existing transmission lines with ACCC Conductor in these scenarios - and using ACCC Conductor for proposed tie lines - will have a profound impact on improving the economics of existing and proposed renewable resource projects, while improving grid reliability and resilience.

Worldwide over 675* projects ranging from 11 kV to over 500 kV have already exploited the advantages of this important new technology. *(with dozens more in the queue)

CTC Global at 19th Annual African Utility Week Expo

CTC Global attended the 19th Annual African Utility Week, held in Cape Town, South Africa May 14th-16th. AUW is a 3-day trade exhibition and conference, gathering over 10,000 power, energy and water professionals and 350 exhibitors in the African market.

This year featured an expanded focus on linking renewable sources of generation to the grid, efficiently.

CTC Global's Wynand De Lange, Vice President Southern Africa and Carl Ulrich, Vice President of Strategic Programs lead discussions with industry professionals about the expanded use of ACCC Conductor within the African grid.
CTC Global's Conductor Comparison Program CCP Software is Now Available Online

CTC Global is pleased to announce that our highly regarded Conductor Comparison Program (CCP) software is now available online, and is accessible at ccp.ctcglobal.com

The new web-based version has all the features found in the Excel version, which has been replaced and will no longer be supported. The new version is designed to make it easier to use, and it also has some new features. Having CCP online will make it easier to keep it up-to-date with new wire files and other data, and to add improvements as they are made. Users will always know they have the current version every time they log in. CCP is also compatible with tablets.

All data required for calculations is entered on one page. Representative ACCC® Conductors are automatically selected based on the "base" conductor selected. Some fields are automatically entered based on earlier entries or saved user preferences. For example, latitude is entered from a web app based on the project location, and currency conversion is provided using real-time web app information. The user can edit most input data, including default and automatically selected data. Registered users can save multiple projects, recall them, modify them and save them as new projects or overwrite the existing projects.

CCP comparison output is displayed on a separate page. Frequently changed input used for sensitivity analysis is conveniently provided on that same page to minimize toggling between pages. Registered users can export reports that break out sections of the output to PDF and Excel files.

Registration to use CCP requires only a valid email address and password. Users may also use CCP as a guest however, saving and export features are only available to registered users.

Thank you for using our CCP. We welcome your feedback. For technical support, please contact [email protected]
