SB 1281, PACE 2.0 Stalls in House Committee as 86 th Texas Legislature Draws to Close
Keeping PACE in Texas gratefully acknowledges Senator Brian Birdwell and Representative Four Price for their commitment to bring PACE to rural Texas and to protect PACE in a Box core principles. In the closing days of the session vigorous lobbying against the bill stalled SB 1281 in the House. Nonetheless, Texas volunteers and national PACE leaders will continue to serve all of Texas and seek ways to bring energy and water savings to every corner of the state.

Progress made this Session would not have been possible without local leaders, including Navarro County Judge H.M. Davenport, McClennan Judge Scott Felton, Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley, Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea, Brazos County Commissioner Steve Aldrich, Farmers Branch Mayor Robert Dye, and Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson. Many people testified in support of SB 1281 and many organizations filed cards in support of the legislation.

The Texas Association of Business (TAB) vigorously advanced SB 1281 as part of its initiative to expand economic development in rural Texas. Conservative Texans for Energy Innovation Foundation, US Green Building Council, and the Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter are just some of the organizations that committed many days to educate legislators about the TX-PACE program, reflecting the continued commitment of this broad collaboration to the PACE in a Box model program and its core principles.
