B lue Ridge AHEC is a non-profit regional health education center based in Rome, Georgia. Our mission is to increase the supply, distribution and education of health professionals in Northwest Georgia by recruiting, training, and retaining quality health professionals into our 20 county region.
Welcome Emily!
Blue Ridge AHEC recently welcomed Emily Hopkins as our Summer Intern. A native of Columbus, Emily moved to Northwest Georgia four years ago to attend Kennesaw State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Throughout her college experience she gained an extensive amount of knowledge on social issues and developed a true passion for helping others. Furthermore, she worked as a GED Instructor at the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office tutoring inmates and helping them earn a GED. Welcome Emily!

Congratulations to Alice Storey on completing our RN re-entry program! We are so grateful to Martha Covington, RN at Panter Elementary for willing to serve as a preceptor. Next round of Rural PREP microresearch funding available now

The Collaborative for Rural Primary care, Research, Education and Practice , or Rural PREP, exists to improve and sustain the education of primary care providers for rural practice.

The program provides students, residents, and other primary care trainees up to $4,000 in expense reimbursement to conduct “microresearch” projects on rural primary care, rural population health, and rural health workforce education and training.

Priority consideration will be given to applications received by June 18. Eligible applicants include medical school, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant students and residents or trainees preparing for primary care practice in rural locations.

Apply for Tele-Behavioral Health Network Program funding
The Evidence-Based Tele-Behavioral Health Network Program provides funding to use telehealth networks to increase access to behavioral health care services in rural and frontier communities and conduct evaluations of those efforts to establish an evidence base for assessing the effectiveness of tele-behavioral health care for patients, providers, and payers. Applications are due June 25 .

Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
Effective January 19, 2018

The eNLC, allows for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs) to have one multistate license, with the privilege to practice in their home state and other eNLC states.

What is PTIP?
