REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT: 1812 WEEKEND
June 23 & 24, 10 AM - 4 PM
Genesee Country Village & Museum
 
  This singular weekend at the museum will focus on the daily life of New Yorkers living just miles from the epicenter of warfare at the U.S. border with Canada. Special highlights include military maneuvers of the day, live firing of 200 year old weaponry, music, dancing, food, and drink - that gave us such profound stories like Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

  Bike the Genesee Valley Greenway starting from Avon with Shelly Jackson leading the way. The total distance will be at least 16 miles. Mountain or hybrid bikes recommended, helmets required. Make sure to bring water.

  ANNUAL RING OF FIRE
July 3, 10 PM
Conesus Lake

Originally an old Seneca tradition, this annual Independence Day Celebration is the highlight of the summer on Conesus Lake. Sponsored by The Conesus Lake Association, every 3rd of July residents light provided flares at exactly 10 PM along the entire shoreline of the Lake, creating a Ring of Fire. The night is highlighted by fireworks displays up and down Conesus lake.
