Y oh Y not me? Looking for a corporate “event” for up to 140 people. Maybe hosting a Salute to Mr. B Ball or a Goodbye, Good Riddance Boss Miserly Mistress Gala? Jeff Thomas of the YMCA Fort Worth says its beautiful Camp Carter has a Retreat Center situated on private Cottonwood Lake. The facility includes a full-wall projection board and stone fireplace, full glass doors opening to a wrap-around patio on the lake, two breakout rooms separated from the main room by glass doors, air conditioning and heat and … voila , restrooms! It’s all included for one day any time before November, thanks to Jeff, but you’re on your own for catering. He also sent along a YMCA gift bag that has a T-shirt, a Frisbee, some decals and a YMCA plastic cup.
Just desserts: Mr. B’s very demanding doctor admonished him for having a cookie diet. Cookies and coffee during the day and cookies with a side salad for dinner. Then a late-night cookie snack. Mr. B succumbed and instead, one mid-afternoon, lumbered over (cookies in coat pocket) to the Cast Iron Restaurant at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel . Just in time for an afternoon delight. Mr. B couldn’t choose between the Texas Pecan Rocky Road Bread Pudding; the Home-Grown Lavender Crème Brulee; the Fort Worth Tower Cheesecake with bourbon caramel, candied pecans and whipped cream; the Dr Pepper Chocolate Cake; or the Caramel Apple Torte with short dough crust, blueberries, TX Bourbon caramel and whipped cream. So he ordered them all, for less than $50. You can, too, with this $50 gift card to Cast Iron heaven.
Rockin’ the ride: Mr. B’s very demanding doctor admonished him for having a cookie diet. Cookies and coffee during the day and cookies with a side salad for dinner. Then a late-night cookie snack. Mr. B succumbed and lumbered over (cookies in gym bag) to CycleBar Waterside. Ride No. 1 was a success. B raced .2 miles in 10 minutes. After a month, he is doing 1.5 miles an hour. He’s down to 17 cookies a day. CycleBar is outrageously great. Five different classes for every level, determination and mood, and a sixth for groups to ride for a cause. CycleStats measures the six key metrics of your daily and historical performance. And the Cyclestars are “equal parts educator, DJ, coach, motivator and friend.” Jessica (Janet’s daughter) Leigh pedaled over with a five pack of rides.
World premiere: University Christian Church and its superb Chancel Choir have put together a night of music March 17 that is highlighted by the world premiere of renowned composer Ola Gjeilo's "The Tyger & The Lamb." Alive At The Bass: A Musical Epiphany showcases “ The Tyger & The Lamb,” commissioned by UCC as a gift to Fort Worth, with a 140-voice festival choir, strings, piano and harp under the direction of UCC’s Reverend Dr. Todd Prickett. The 90-minute concert at Bass Performance Hall also will include George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” performed by Fort Worth pianist Janet Pummill with a full orchestra. Other highlights are performances by soprano Amy Prickett and pianist Amy Stewart, majestic hymn arrangements and favorite Irish melodies in honor of St Patrick’s Day.  Pavlov’s PR princess, Claire Armstrong, hit the keys with three pair of tickets.
Congratulations to the February 19th

Still thinking Santa: Cortney Gumbleton ( Locavore ) usually keeps her Christmas decorations up year-round, which may be a bit odd unless you have no neighbors … On another sled, Amy Hartley ( Elbit Systems of America ) is from the North Pole, a city in Alaska that is all about Christmas all day, every day. Amy is a media relations and digital specialist and rumor has it that she has a direct line to the Big Guy.

Let us do the pedaling for you: Entering to win the recent Pedego Electric Bikes-Fort Worth giveaway, Shaina Dempski of Topgolf Fort Worth said, “As a kid, I rode my bike EVERYWHERE with no gears and no problems. Now I put it in the lowest gear up a one degree incline and almost die. Sounds like (an electric bike) will solve all my problems.”
Just sayin’: Chamber Executive Vice President of Marketing Miserly Mistress’ last day after 30 years is April 7. Her greatest accomplishment came after the March 2000 tornado. She was instrumental in the outlandishly brilliant “No Gusts, No Glory” rebuild campaign. If you’re wondering how she possibly could retire at 52, Miserly, before the Chamber had accounting and events departments, raised more than $1 million in sponsorships. Just sayin’.
Seeing red: Chuck Burton, master of marketing for ACH Child & Family Services , celebrated the American Heart Association’s Go Red month with red shoelaces.
