The survey results on the question of .....:
Would you switch suppliers if your supplier was providing product to a backyard operator who regular undercut you?
I find this a silly question. Are we children? There are small businesses and one man operations all over this country. My own company started out as a sole proprietor/one man operation back in 1987, it is a lot larger than that now. The reason I would change suppliers is if I find out that I am not getting the service the company deserves, a fair/best price for the product I am purchasing, they do not honour material warranties, or they do not honor their legal obligation to service maintain the machinery I have purchased from them. It is a competitive industry out there not only for us the sign men & women but also for the suppliers.
No. Cannot force who your Suppliers customers are.
Yes (Steve, SS Signs Skreenkraft)
No. It's not the supplier's fault, they have no control over what I or my colleagues charge. However, if I found they were getting special pricing that was helping them to keep undercutting me, That is a different story altogether. (Shane, DSI)
I would certainly consider it but realising that the supplier has every right to sell to whom they like. They would probably not appreciate me threatening them with a withdrawal of business for that reason. They may dump me as a customer.
