Perhaps February should be proclaimed as National State of the (___). We have had the opportunity to hear about the State of the Union, the State, and the School District. And this Wednesday is the State of the City, Escondido!
Why you will want to be there:
This is the place to be if you want to know the pulse of Escondido.
With new council leaders comes a new vision. Though Mayor Paul McNamara has only been at the helm since January, he has been diligently working to accomplish some pretty significant goals for Escondido.
Virtually everyone who is anyone will be there!
Where else can you go to meet with the influencers and leaders of Escondido over coffee?
We get to honor community individuals. The City Council awards will be presented to well deserving members of our community. Find out who they are and what they are doing to make a difference in Escondido.
What I find most exciting about getting together as a community is the opportunity to discover new happenings and meet new people.

Energy Costs Rank Third In Top Small Business Expenses
According to the EPA's ENERGY STAR program, U.S. small businesses together spend a whopping $60 billion on energy each year. Additionally, a survey conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) found that energy costs are a top-three business expense for more than one-third of the nation's small businesses.
But, small businesses also possess significant energy savings potential. Depending on the building and business type, small businesses can reduce their energy without sacrificing service or comfort.

Water Tax...Really?!?
California lawmakers recognized water as a basic human right in 2012. Since then, voters have approved
over $10 billion in bonds to fund statewide water projects, yet for some Californians, clean and safe
drinking water is still unavailable.
So why is this? And why are we being asked to pay a tax every time we turn on the faucet?
According to a recent study, 360,000 people living in mostly rural and agricultural regions of the state are
served by water systems that provide unsafe drinking water, and around 6 million have water providers that
have violated state standards in recent years. Unfortunately, many small water districts have been unable
to provide the clean water that many take for granted.
