We are pleased to share with you the following news, information and ministry opportunities taking place within our synod and throughout the ELCA. Our e-newsletter is distributed semi-monthly in two separate issues. One issue includes Pacifica Synod and ELCA news items, along with prayer requests. The second issue contains ministry celebrations, events and opportunities, and positions within our synod and beyond.

Celebrating Ministry Together!
You're Invited - Installation Services Across Our Synod
The Rev. John Barton - Sunday, June 23
All are invited to celebrate the installation of the Rev. John Barton as pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Menifee on Sunday, June 23 at 3:00 p.m.  The church address is 28200 Portsmouth Drive, Sun City. Clergy are invited to vest and process, with the color of the day as green. A reception will be held immediately following the service and all are welcome to attend.

Pastor John began his call with Faith Lutheran on May 1. Pastor John shared the following, "I was born and raised in Tempe, AZ and went to undergrad at ASU where I met my wife, Sarah, at the Lutheran Campus Ministry there. I am also an alumnus of Lutheran Retreat, Camps, and Conferences where I was a camper and staff member for a combined 9 years. I look forward to reconnecting with LRCC. I went on to attend seminary at PLTS, finishing my degree with an internship at First Lutheran Church in Waltham, MA.

Sarah and I were married last year in Sedona, AZ and recently moved to Menifee for me to start my call at Faith Lutheran Church. I am eager to start serving my new faith community and to meet my peers within the Pacifica Synod. Your prayers and support are welcome as I begin my first call and settle into the area. Feel free to reach out to talk shop, nerd out about Star Wars, or just get to know me."

EncourAGING & Equipping Congregations for Older Adult Ministry
ALOA has much to offer Lutheran congregations in the area of Older Adult Ministry. Visibility is critical. In addition to the resources on our web site, ALOA is offering regular webinars on key topics for Older Adult Ministry that are practical and free of charge.

June Webinar #1 - Note Time Change
ALOA, Seniors in Transition
Wednesday, June 12, 2019
2:00 PM Eastern

Host is Mark Schoepp, Executive Director of ALOA. Mark will interview Chrislyn Carson about "Seniors in Transition" - a resource to help older adults make pro-active decisions about one of the hardest decisions older adults face: where they will live in the later years of life. The Webinar will go over the template to help congregations develop an interactive, eight week class for older adults from the church and community. The series of classes will explore options for staying at home and options for moving to a care facility of some kind.

June Webinar #2
ALOA - Congregational Health Ministries for Older Adults...and Everyone
Tuesday, June 18, 2019
12:00 PM Eastern

Host Mark Schoepp, Executive Director of ALOA, will interview Colleen Botcher, RN. Colleen is an active Nursing professional who serves a congregation as a volunteer Parish Nurse, and the New Jersey District as Parish Nurse Coordinator. Colleen will provide an overview of Parish nursing and Congregational Health Ministries, centered on Christ's healing love, stewardship of health, and community outreach - for older adults and any age.

Both webinars are free of charge, 60 minutes max.

While you are on ALOA's website, sign up for ALOA email to take advantage of a free congregational consultation on Older Adult Ministry. One name per month will be selected to receive an on-site, full day consultation with an evening outreach event, all free of charge. Sign up at aloaserves.org.
