From the Penn Central Conference Board of Directors

Members and Friends of Penn Central Conference:

Good News! At a special meeting of the Board of Directors held on Sunday, May 19th, the board voted unanimously and enthusiastically to call Rev. Dr. Carolyne Call as our Transitional Conference Minister. She will begin her ministry with us on August 1 st, 2019.

Carrie, as she prefers to be called, brings to us a variety of ministry experience at the local, conference and national settings. She currently serves as Executive Director of Development and Communication at Lancaster Theological Seminary. Prior to this she served as Associate Conference Minister in the Indiana-Kentucky Conference. She is known as an adaptive leader and an effective administrator, worship leader, preacher, committee guide and teacher.

Carrie is a member of Trinity UCC, East Petersburg in the Lancaster Association and currently serves as the chair of the Lancaster Association Members in Discernment Committee. On the national level she serves on the Board of Directors of the United Church of Christ, the UCC Historical Council and as co-convener of the UCC History and Polity Teachers Network.

Carrie received her Master of Divinity Degree from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School and earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Cornell University. She has additional academic degrees in rural sociology from Cornell. She has an appreciation and respect for the variety of theological perspectives found in Penn Central Conference and is passionate about history.

Carrie grew up in upstate New York and is married to Dr. Randall Zachman. He is Professor Emeritus of Reformation Studies at University of Notre Dame and is now teaching history and theology classes at Lancaster Seminary. In her spare time Carrie enjoys making jewelry, hiking and being outdoors.

As Transitional Conference Minister, Carrie is contracted in this full-time position for a period of twelve months, with the option to continue as mutually agreed upon by the Transitional Conference Minister and the Board of Directors. At the end of the specified time, or at a time mutually agreed upon between the Transitional Conference Minister and the Board of Directors, the Transitional Conference Minister may be nominated by the Board of Directors and presented to the delegates at an Annual or Special Meeting of the Conference to be voted upon as the settled conference minister.

Carrie will be present at our Annual Meeting June 7-8 and will preach at the Saturday worship service. This will be an opportunity to meet and greet her.

The Search Committee and Board of Directors are looking forward to Carrie's leadership in this important time of transition in the life of our conference.

In Christ's Service,

Rev. William J. LaSalle
