Lake Nona Middle School

I had written in this space one week ago that we were nearly completed with the 2017-2018 annual exams as required by the FLDOE. What remains are make-up tests this week and finals - our End of Course exams or EOCs the week of May 21st. A combination of student, teacher, and family support really helped to make this year's testing run smoothly overall. Thank you again.

This week is a special one here at LNMS and around the United States - Teacher Appreciation Week. At the time this issue was published, our dedicated PTSA was seeking a little additional support (just below). If your household or business can lend some help, terrific. We are blessed with an incredible set of educators that give it their best every school day. We want this to be a wonderful week for all of them. Your support is deeply appreciated.

Have a nice week and should you pass a teacher that in your view has traveled that extra distance for their students, kindly take a moment to say thank you - it would mean a lot - especially this week!

In Knights Honor,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal, Lake Nona Middle School

7th Grade Civics: "The Amazing Race"

On Saturday, April 28th, 220 seventh grade students came out to review for their Civics EOC * in the 3rd annual "Civics Amazing Race!" Teams competed in a scavenger hunt throughout the school, reviewing a different topic for their EOC at eight different challenges and faced road blocks around the inside and outside of school campus. Students were able to test their Civics skills and review, win prizes, and have fun!

Special thanks to Mr. Rosado, Mr. Berson, and all of the volunteers that came out to make this such a great event.

Knight Music

The repertoire for Ms. Rutzik's two recitals were chosen to illustrate various piano genres and featured 33 students. The students showcased their technique and musicianship in their performance with music like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata played by Heewon Seo or Amazing Grace words written by the English poet John Newton played by Emma Plott.
