June Dinner
Special Guest Speaker

Kathy Boyte
"Quilts of Valor"

Wednesday, June 5, 2019
No Host Bar starts at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m.

The June monthly dinner will feature Kathy Boyte & Gold Coast Quilt Guild. For years, their group has been designing Quilts of Valor, specifically for veterans who served during World War II. They will be presenting a series of quilts designed for Korean War and Viet Nam veterans. This is a unique way to say "Thank You" to those who put their lives on the line for the freedoms we enjoy today.  You don't want to miss this heartfelt moment when multiple Estrella Warbird Museum members are recognized for their service!

Carol Verstuft will also be on hand summarizing activities from the recent  Warbirds Wings & Wheels event and the success it has brought to the museum. If you were anywhere close to Estrella Warbirds Museum this past month on the weekend of May 11th, you would have known there was a lot of excitement going on! Well over 200 exceptional vehicles were on display along with live music from Monte Mills & the Lucky Horeshoe Band, the BMX StuntMasters, Tractor Restoration displays, food, vendors, and a few (very loud) front end dragsters. Thousands of people joined in on the excitement and had a great time.

Release the Draken!!!

Estrella Warbirds Museum  recently acquired a  Saab J-35 Draken,  which is currently in storage in Chino, CA. This exceptional Swedish Mach 1.7 fighter jet needs to be transported to Paso Robles as a static display. Transport costs are just under $6,000. We need your help!

The Saab J-35 Draken is one of several that have been sitting idle in Chino since last utilized in the Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB.  Now the airport manager wants them removed as soon as possible.  This will be an excellent addition to our growing fleet of former military aircraft (both US and international).  Time is short so we need to make arrangements at the earliest possible time to relocate this aircraft to Paso Robles.  There were less than 700 of these aircraft built and relatively few, if any, left flying. Your generous donations are greatly appreciated!

Estrella Warbirds Museum is a non-profit under the provisions of IRS tax code. ID 77-0324714. Your donation may be eligible for deduction on your federal and state income tax returns.

We're Looking For...

Our
Public Information Officer, Michael Levine, has done an outstanding job during his tenure. He and his family are relocating to the mountains of Colorado.  The museum is currently seeking to fill this volunteer position.  If you have some free time each month and love to keep the public informed, let's talk!

We also have a position open for a part time facility rental coordinator to work with local businesses and individuals in regards to facility rental and/or catered events. Resumes are being solicited and should be emailed.

Unique Solutions
The restoration crew came up with an outstanding solution to an age-old problem - what to do about storage and desert sun?  This new awning will supply display shade for some of the restored military vehicles and storage for necessary mission related items.

If you would like to get involved and have some time to spare each month, we'd love to talk with you.  Stop on by or fill out a volunteer form online.
