Summer is right around the corner and things are really heating up in Swarthmore Town Center! What's not to love? Graduation FIREWORKS Tonight..
Grab a few friends and neighbors on Saturday evening, May 25 to witness the fireworks show over the lawn of Swarthmore College (between Parrish Hall and the train station). The fireworks will begin around 9:15 pm and are in honor of the 2019 graduating class of Swarthmore College.

Author Reading and Book Signing

Elizabeth Coleman will discuss   HERE: Poems for the Planet  on June 1 at 2 pm in the Gathering Room of the Inn at Swarthmore. Coleman, who edited the book, will read poems from this "love song to a planet in crisis" and discuss the compilation of this anthology of "beautiful, generous poems and ideas for action."  

Swarthmore Campus & Community Store will have copies of   HERE: Poems for the Planet   available for purchase and signing at the event.

Join H.O.M. and Swarthmore Horticultural Society for an "un-bee-lievable" First Friday celebration. The Swarthmore Horticultural Society will be distributing sunflower seedlings and have seed packet give-aways, as well as educating all about the importance of planting these beautiful pollinator habitats to help nourish our bees.  Also stop by to enjoy enjoy bee-inspired snacks and sunflower inspired crafts at the event. Open to all!

Indigo Healing Arts Collective
110 Park Avenue - 2nd Floor, 6:30-8 pm
Join Indigo for an anniversary celebration and the return of a First Friday flow yoga class, inspired by the music of The Beatles. Exchange = $20.

Kandy Kids 
5 S. Chester Road, 3-7 pm
Kandy Kids is having fun with a special two-week event called "Spotlight Farm" from Melissa & Doug. Join them on First Friday for a "Make Your Own Salad" activity. Children will use kid safe knives to cut a variety of fresh vegetables to make a salad to take and eat with their evening meal. From June 7 through June 22, all Melissa & Doug farm-related toys will be 10% off. During these two weeks, Kandy Kids will offer coloring pages and information about farming. Come back on Friday, June 21 from 10 am to 5 pm when children can p!ant string beans in a paper cup to take home and re-plant in their garden.

Join us in supporting the opening event of the Swarthmore Public Library's first annual One, Book, One Swarthmore. Bring a dish and come discuss Men We Reaped with neighbors and community members. Swarthmore Fire Station
121 Park Avenue,  3:30-5 pm
All are invited to attend an open house at Swarthmore's Fire Station (on the Lafayette side of the building.) See the emergency vehicles up close, tour the fire house, meet the fire fighters, and maybe even try on their boots! Donations will be gladly accepted and concessions will be sold to further raise funds for our much-appreciated Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association.

waR3house 3 is proud to host Suds and Soul: A Swarthmore Benefit for the Headstrong Foundation. Over the past year, Nick's House - located in Swarthmore - has hosted nearly 60 families from all over the country as they seek treatment for cancer-related illness. The Library was so fortunate to work with local graphic artist, Amy Pollack of Twist'n'Shout to develop a new logo for the library. The colorful new design depicts our library as a hub of the community. To go along with the beautiful new logo, they have also designed a new and improved website. Summer Activities for Youth
In addition to the regularly scheduled storytimes & programs, the Library will also have a ton of special events for kids this summer! You can find out more, including the schedule, on the website. 

Wonderful Wednesdays
Join us on Wednesdays at 6 pm in the amphitheater for a series of performances for kids and families. The Library will host music, puppets, comedy, and even science shows! 

Summer Quest
Kids ages 0-10 can come to the Library to get a game board. Complete the literacy activities listed and receive a prize when you land on a PRIZE space. 

Great Swarthmore Scavenger Hunt
Take part in an eight week scavenger hunt around Swarthmore using clues to determine the answer to a burning question.

Journey Around DelCo
Visit libraries across Delaware County! Kids will come pick up a booklet at the Swarthmore Library, and visit other libraries in the county and complete various tasks.

Pen Pals
Sign up to write and receive letters from a pen pal. You'll be assigned a pen pal from somewhere in Delaware County, with whom you can exchange letters. If you write at least two, you'll be invited to attend a party at Rose Tree Park and maybe you can even meet your pen pal face to face!
Special Events & Workshops at Indigo Healing Arts Collective 
Indigo Healing Arts Collective, located on the second level of  110 Park Avenue, is offering a variety of interesting workshops in June. Additionally, they are excited to offer customized Yoga Therapy by in-house yoga therapist, Olivia Krawtchuk. Stella Marin of Vita Magic Alchemy has also recently joined the Indigo family and is offering reiki and intuitive healing sessions.  And finally, founder Jacqlyn Diamond LPC, NCC is also accepting new clients who wish to work through their empathic struggles. Healing the Goddess Within: New Moon Womyn's Circle
June 1 at 1 pm | $30
Heal the Goddess Within during an afternoon of mindful connection, conscious creativity and soul-deep intention setting. This June we will explore and focus on our healing connection with Mother Earth. We will explore topics of grounding, being present in the body, and healing the connection with mind, body & spirit through the energetic heart center. Circle includes: gentle yoga, sharing circle, all craft materials & refreshment.

Breathwork and Crystal Healing Workshop 
June 2 at 3 pm | $40
In this Breathwork group, we invite you to drop into your intuition and body wisdom. You will intuitively choose the stones you will work with for your Breathwork journey. As the energy builds, additional stones will be channeled and placed on your body to create a collective crystal grid that expands into a larger field of healing heart resonance and coherence. The breath will be the thread that carries you through your journey from head to heart.

Samantha Story is an Acupuncturist and Breathwork Healer working in NYC and co-founder of Ritual Moon.  Christel Alberez is a certified Crystal Resonance Therapist, and Circle Caller in Philadelphia and co-founder of Ritual Moon.

Yoga Nidra

Led by Mallory, we welcome you to join us to explore the five layers of the body, known as Five Koshas:

*Physical Body
*Energy Body
*Mental Body
*Wisdom Body
*Bliss Body

Using yoga techniques of breath control, clear intention setting and body scanning, students will be guided to connect to one's inner most self to activate the parasympathetic nervous system through guided meditation. Students will be fully support with the use of props to limit discomfort and distractions while gaining the full benefit of yogic sleep. This class is recommended for novice and seasoned students as well as students with limited mobility.

Pinch Pot Workshop at Gallery on Park

Gallery on Park will be hosting a pinch pot workshop on Sunday, June 23 from 1-4 pm. Through the expert guidance of Barbara Hanselman, you will create a wonderful work of art from a simple ball of clay! Many techniques will be taught, including carving, decorating, how to under glaze and more!

Workshop fee is $65 which includes all materials as well as Barbara firing your piece so that it is ready for you to pick up at a later date. Workshop is limited to 10 participants. To reserve your space email Martha at  info@galleryonpark.com .
