Just four weeks to go! A huge thanks to those parents who have already supported our Grad Night Party fundraising efforts. To date, we have received donations from 66% of the graduating class. All 8th-grade students are welcome regardless of donation, however we hope for a contribution of $50 per 8th-grade student. As a reminder, this is a 100% parent-organized and funded event. Help us make the party great for everyone. You may make your donation hereSeparately, if you are interested in sponsoring any portion of the party (such as the DJ, etc.), your support would be greatly appreciated. Hillview Music
Congratulations
What a great experience! The 7/8 Concert Band and 7/8 Orchestra, assisted by 6th-grade students, performed at the School of the Arts in the Region VI CMEA Band/Orchestra Festival in San Francisco. Both ensembles played incredibly well. Three judges listened to the performances and a separate judge evaluated the Sight Reading clinic. And for the first time in Hillview's history, the 7/8 Concert Band received a "Unanimous Superior"! The 7/8 Orchestra received two Excellent and one Superior rating for their performance and an Excellent for their Sight Reading clinic, resulting in a composite score of "Excellent"! Hillview and Mr. Vaughan are very proud of their performances! Magnificent!

Jeanie Ritchie Grant was awarded to Hillview Music
Brett Strader, composer, created two music pieces for Hillview Music. Band and Orchestra premiered these commissioned pieces at the Spring Concert; Mr. Strader conducted. These celebrated original works were dedicated to Jeanie Ritchie for her endless support of education in Menlo Park.

Hillview to Perform in Disneyland
Saturday, May 25, at Hollywood Backlot Stage
Hillview Orchestra and Band will be performing in the Disneyland California Adventure Park. If you are in the area, stop by and hear us! The band performs at 10:30 a.m. and the orchestra at 12:30 p.m. This is all part of the Disney Magic Music Days program.

Hillview Service Team
Relay for Life
Friday, May 31, 8:00 - 11:00 p.m., Hillview track
Last year the Hillview community raised $90,000 in support of caregivers, those going through a diagnosis, in honor of those who are in recovery, and in memory of loved ones that we have lost. With five days of fundraising left, students are about halfway to last year's total and our goal this year! Now is the time, and we cannot do it without our amazing parent community. You can help us fight cancer and celebrate/honor loved ones lost and/or cancer survivors in the following ways:
  • Donating to the general American Cancer Society - Hillview Relay for Life event here and choosing "I just want to support Relay for Life in general"
  • Donating to a specific Hillview team  here and then "Search by participant and team," e.g., "Silly Little Sisters"
  • Donating online via your student's personal fundraising URL (email  here  for help finding this)
  • Purchasing and dedicating a LUMINARIA here that will be lit and placed on the Hillview track on May 31
  • Sending cash/check made out to American Cancer Society (in a sealed envelope) with your student to the Hillview office or Relay for Life lunchtime pre-party on May 30
  • Bringing coins to the Hillview office to contribute to our Change for Cancer collection bin
Thank you on behalf of the Hillview Service Team and over 250 Hillview Students participating in the 2019 Hillview Relay for Life!

Schoolhouse Rocks Run Recap

Although weather on Sunday morning was stormy, the clouds parted and it turned out to be an awesome day! The spirit was alive, runners of all ages enjoyed the 1k and 5k, and the post-run festival was filled with tunes, Kona ice, rock climbing wall, bubbles, and bouncy house. The energy was contagious!

View this year's race results here.

Please note: Due to the rain, there were many runners who registered for the 5K run (and had a timing chip in their race bib) who only completed the 1K course. Therefore, some results listed could be from a runner who only completed the shorter course. We appreciate your understanding.

Check out pictures here from this year's event. Thank you to our volunteer photographers, Brian and Leigh Wilson, for capturing these wonderful images of race day.

We hope to see you at next year's race - May 17, 2020!  The Schoolhouse Rocks Run & Festival planning team.
