As I am writing this I am looking out the window and gazing at lovely Daffodils, green grass & little buds rapidly growing on trees. It's still a little rainy & cold but you can definitely feel warmth from the sun when it pops out from behind the grey clouds. We made it!
Firstly, I want to thank everyone who participated in the Golden Easter Egg Hunt. By all accounts it was a huge success! 55 adults & 32 kids joined in the fun! Many people said that they never come DT (can you imagine all they are missing out on?) and that they went into places they would never have otherwise gone into. I'm a little biased perhaps, but I think DT Kingston is a jewel! A beautiful waterfront, amazing restaurants and unique lovely shops of all sorts. Whats' not to love? So thanks to everyone from our retailers to the participants and we look forward to our next event! Speaking of which....Our next hunt will be in June..... May is full of things going on! We have Sue Steffes as our featured wall artist for May. Sue was one of the lovely ladies who used to be a staffer here at Cornerstone. Sue decided to focus all her efforts on her art & we are happy to continue to share her work here & to feature her beautiful felted pieces this month. I invite everyone to come check it out!
Mother's Day is Sunday May 12. I have to say that my perspective of "Mother" has changed over the years. When we are children our Mother is the person we reach out to to kiss the booboo, share the day's activity with and know we can trust her to 'make it all better". Maybe as a teen we felt she was crazy and didn't get all the "words of wisdom" she was trying to share with us and basically felt she was not "with it!" Now that my mom has passed I would gladly do anything to hear those pearls of wisdom, to feel her hand on my head when I'm not feeling well and to smell her favourite perfume (Chanel No. 5 of course). As a grown woman without children of my own, I have "adopted 2 girls" (now young women with children of their own), to mother. I am blessed that in some capacity I am passing to them pearls of wisdom and being sought out to give insight to. So for all you moms out there (however you came to be one), we have beautiful things to celebrate how special you are. Whether your taste is jewellery or a piece of original wall art we have what your heart is singing for.
At the end of the month we have the annual spring Art After Dark event. A huge hit with everyone! It's a night of going to shop after shop to view all the wonderfully talented artists from far and wide. Of course here at Cornerstone, our specialty is all Canadian artists that come from all over this beautiful country. Light refreshments will be served & it's generally a fun night for everyone as the stores & galleries stay open until 10:00 PM. Hope to see you there!
