2019 Session V.11
80th Legislative Assembly
Constituents at The Capital
Last Wednesday I had the privilege of honoring Sergeant First Class Scot R. Noss and his family on the House floor.

I also had the pleasure of meeting with Sweet Home’s YAC group. They are an awesome group of young men and women.

Oregon Sportsmen's Caucus Banquet
What is the Oregon Sportsmen's Caucus?
The bi-partisan, bi-cameral Oregon Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus works to protect and advance our state’s outdoor traditions of hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and trapping.

In order to support these efforts, the Annual Banquet is raising funds for the Oregon Sportsmen’s Caucus Foundation to enable the execution of caucus events such as policy briefings, outdoor activities, and receptions that each play a critical role in educating and building relationships with decision makers whose actions affect our
sportsmen’s heritage.

Senate Bill 978
Last week the Senate Judiciary Committee passed SB 978 . This bill will now be voted on the Senate floor later this week. If it is passed on the senate floor, then it will be moved to the House Judiciary committee. I have some concerns about how this bill impacts those trying to follow the laws. Here are a few of the things that the bill includes:
  • This bill would require firearms be kept locked up when not in use and would also expand gun free zones even for those with a Concealed Handgun License.
  • If gun owners fail to follow certain requirements when reporting the theft of a weapon this bill would hold the gun owner strictly liable for the future illegal acts committed by criminals using the stolen firearm.

  • The measure would increase the fee to apply for a Concealed Handgun License.

Please read the bill for yourself and see what you think!
