Rev. Laurie's Message

I want to say a few things to you about stewardship.  "But, it's not November," you say!  I want to talk with you about a different kind of stewardship, and that's the stewardship of the miraculous body God gave us.  We are each created in the image of God and have been given a body to care for as we walk this life.  How well we take care of that body has huge implications.  If we put into our bodies things which are harmful to us, if we neglect such things as a good night's sleep, if we don't get enough exercise, we deprive ourselves of the healthy life that God would have us live.  We deprive ourselves of the spirited energy we need to do God's work in the world.

As we enter this lovely time of year of warmer weather and sunshine, I find myself wanting to be out in that sunshine enjoying it.  For some that might mean planting a garden.  Because I have a brown thumb and a racing Saluki hound, a garden sounds like a no-win situation.  I prefer to walk, and so does the dog.  What do you enjoy doing that will keep you moving?  Take advantage of the warmer weather and get out there and do something that you enjoy that will help keep your body healthy.  And, don't forget the sunblock!

Join Our Group Walk Today

Please join us for our first St. Catherine's walk of 2018 on Saturday, May 5.

This is a chance to see some of the local countryside and get some exercise with St. Catherine's.  The weather in early May should be great, not too hot and not too cold, but just right.

We will meet at the Starbucks adjacent to the Raley's on Mount Rose Highway (18250 Wedge Parkway) at 10:00 a.m.   We'ill probably walk 2-4 miles, but it will depend on who joins us and how far they want to walk.  All are welcome (including any 4-pawed friends that you want to bring).

Please remember to bring water or something else to drink.  We hope to see you on May 5.   If you have any questions, please contact Charlie Dickinson (cdickinson@cgai.com).

Joint Northwest District Episcopal Picnic

The third annual Joint Episcopal Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, May 27 (Trinity Sunday!) at 12:30 p.m. at the Snowflake Pavilion in Idlewild Park.

St. Peter's, St. Patrick's and St. John's in the Wilderness will be joining the Reno/Sparks parishes. This is a great way to get to know other Episcopalians in the area, so let's all join in the fun. There is a sign-up sheet on the greeters' table so that we can give a count to Trinity.  They are supplying burgers, hotdogs, the fixings, and bottled water.  If you would like to bring a cold beverage, you are welcome to do so.  Trinity has purchased a permit to allow the consumption of beer.  You are asked to bring side dishes, desserts, your own beverages, lawn chairs, and lawn games to share.

Newborn
Baby Bundles:  S haring Our Blessings with Others

By Ann Crase

Baby Bundles is composed of and supported by members of St. Catherine's and Trinity Episcopal Churches.  With items donated by both congregations, we assemble "Bundles" of  layette items for St. Mary's and Renown hospitals. They are then distributed by hospital staff to disadvantaged new parents who have little or nothing for their newborn.
CURRENT NEEDS
  • Boys' hats
  • Boys' bibs
  • Boys' onesies
  • Girls' hats
  • Girls' socks
  • Diaper wipes
Any help with these items would be greatly appreciated. We still have enough diapers. Clothing should be between 0-6 months.   Monetary donations are always welcome, too. God Bless!

Questions? Contact Susan Lombardi at 329-2044 or Ann Crase at 356-1155.
