Maximizing the academic, social, and emotional potential of each student.

Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Carol Stream Students Engage in Global Education
As it continues to become easier for us to connect with others across the world, it's essential that CCSD93's students are able to learn about, with, and from individuals from other cultures. These types of opportunities will benefit our students as they enter a workforce that will continuously be required to collaborate more and more on a global scale.

Carol Stream School 4th Grade Teacher Michelle Kosieniak is a leader within CCSD93 when it comes to Global Education. Her students have connected directly with classrooms in India, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, Kenya, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and Israel.
Their experiences align perfectly with CCSD93's vision for its students, which was developed as part of the 2018-23 Strategic Planning Process:

CCSD93 inspires students to build the future. Our students will have the skills to be entrepreneurs, global collaborators, and creators; be prepared for anything their future has to offer; and be ready to help the world achieve its potential.

Mrs. Kosieniak will be teaching her peers about how to incorporate Global Education into their classrooms at CCSD93's Summer Technology Academy this summer. I invite you to watch the video linked below to learn more about her students' terrific experiences as global collaborators.
Congratulations Graduating 8th Graders!
Last night it was my pleasure to witness Stratford's 8th graders graduate at Glenbard North High School. CCSD93 Board President Keith Briggs and Glenbard North Principal Dr. John Mensik addressed the students, and Board members Sonal Amin and Scott Stone handed out diplomas. The enthusiasm from the students and their families was palpable. I'm thrilled for these students to be moving on to the next phase of their educational journeys well-prepared for high school.

Jay Stream's students will graduate tonight at 7 p.m. in Glenbard North's Gymnasium, and I couldn't be happier for them and their families.
FREE Hot Meals for Our Community's Kids this Summer
CCSD93 is excited to again offer the Community Summer Lunch Program! This year, we've got new and improved hot food options like pizza, mac and cheese, and hot dogs.

All CCSD93 students and children throughout our community age 18 and younger are invited to Carol Stream School (422 Sioux Lane, Carol Stream) for a FREE meal, games, outdoor play, and reading opportunities from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every weekday from June 10 until August 9!

Be sure to note the new location. We even have busing opportunities. Find out more at www.ccsd93.com/summerlunch. Students were sent home with this flyer yesterday or today, or else they'll receive it on Monday. It features a busing waiver on the back that should be filled out and brought with students to the bus stop if they'll be riding.

Special thanks to our many community partners! We'll see you there!
Last Day for Pre-K - 7th Grade Students 6/3
The last day of school for 2018-19 will be on Monday, June 3. As a reminder, it will be a typical Monday schedule.
Register for 2019-20 Online Today!
Online Registration for the 2019-20 school year is now open. We recently sent out messaging to all parents whose residency has been verified inviting them to register online. If you received an email with registration information, please register as soon as you're able. Be sure to check your email, and you can find out more at   www.ccsd93.com/registration .

For parents whose residency we could not verify, we sent separate messaging indicating that it must be verified with CCSD93 before you can register for next school year. Our goal is to have parents who verify residency register for 2019-20 on the spot as soon as they do. If you received a message about needing to verify residency, please keep an eye out for a letter that was sent out this week with even more information. For more, visit www.ccsd93.com/residency.
Final Enews Next Week
Next Friday I'll send my final Enews with notes about CCSD93's summer activities.

Enjoy your weekend!

Sincerely,

Bill Shields, Ed.D.
