School Board meeting includes safety measures
Approved: online monitoring services and School Resource Officer contracts
The School Board on Thursday night (May 23) approved School Resource Officer agreements with three law enforcement agencies for the 2019-2020 school year.

The SRO program has been in place with the Peculiar and Raymore police departments. This year, the District is adding a partnership with the Cass County Sheriff's Office to provide one of the three officers.

The Board also approved purchasing G-Suite online monitoring services from Gaggle at a cost of $36,500. The District's Technology Department monitors, archives, and filters email for an estimated 6,200 students and 800 staff members.

The services from Gaggle will support and enhance the Department's efforts in monitoring online activity. This includes detecting inappropriate words and images in email, email attachments, documents, and drive files; archiving emails as required; preservation of messages in original form; logging search logs; and blocking activity as needed. The service is compliant with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
