Baccalaureate & Graduation
York Catholic's Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2019 will be held Thursday, May 23, at 7:30 PM at St. Joseph Church in York.   We are blessed to have Father Jonathan Sawicki as the celebrant and homilist. 

The Most Reverend Ronald W. Gainer, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of the Diocese of Harrisburg, will confer the diplomas at Graduation on Friday, May 24, at 7:30 PM in the YC auditorium. Tickets are required for Graduation.

PennLive/The Patriot-News selected Kathryn Rader as a semi-finalist to their Best and Brightest Class of 2019. Over 194 students from Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, and York counties were considered and we are proud our valedictorian was among them. Congratulations Katy!

York Catholic High School is seeking to fill the following teaching and staff positions for the 2019-2020 school year. Science Teacher
 
10 month position (available Fall 2019).
York Catholic is seeking a secondary Science Teacher for grades 7 through 12. Requirements: Certification and related Bachelor's Degree in appropriate major; state and federal clearances.
 
Development Officer
12 month position (available immediately). 
York Catholic is seeking to fill a full-time position with an experienced development (advancement/fundraising) professional. Reporting directly to the Principal, the Development Officer will work to secure funds for York Catholic High School by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors (caseload) assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors and are upgraded in their giving and involvement. This will position will include major gifts, alumni relations, as well as knowledge of EITC and OSTC. Experience with major donor cultivation, and personal solicitations is critical. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, technical skills particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Knowledge of Donor Perfect is preferred. State and federal clearances are also required.

SAT Math Prep Course
Students wishing to prepare for the Math portion of the SAT Exam can register for a prep course taking place at York Catholic June 17-20 from 9-11 AM. The cost is $50. Ascension & Closing Mass




Family members are welcome to join us for Ascension Mass on Thursday, May 30, at 10:20 AM. Attendance at this Mass fulfills your Holy Day of Obligation.
Awards Ceremonies
Family members are invited to join us at the annual Awards Assemblies planned for our students who will be honored for their academic, service, athletic, and musical achievements.
 
Grade 7-8:
Thursday, May 30, we will host Junior High Awards combined with 8th Grade Moving On & Junior High Student Council Inductions at 1:30 PM. At the conclusion of the assembly, 7th graders will report to period 9 and 8th graders will report to the cafeteria for a Moving On Reception. Senior High will run on regular schedule.
 
Grade 9-11:
Friday, May 31, we will host Senior High Awards, Junior Ring Ceremony, and Senior High Student Council Inductions at 1:30 PM. At the conclusion of the assembly, 9th and 10th graders will report to period 9 and 11th graders will report to the cafeteria for a Junior Ring Reception. Junior High will run on regular schedule.
 
The Awards Ceremonies for Grades 7-11 will include all awards except those that require a final average for the year to be recognized (the top of the class for the year and honors all 4 quarters). During the first week of school in September at the 2019-20 Back to School Mass with the entire student body, we will take an extra 15 minutes to welcome 7th grade and recognize all 8th through 12th graders who earned end of the year awards the previous year as a result of their final average.
 
Report cards will be mailed home Friday, June 14.
Chromebook Collection
All Chromebooks and chargers should be returned to the library May 30-31. Students who require their Chromebooks for final exams must return them by June 5. Please note, the return procedure is not a drop-off and will take some time to process.  Students are advised not to wait until their last exam is completed to return their Chromebook, unless they've made alternate transportation plans other than bus pick-up.  
Final Exams & Early Dismissal
Final examinations for students in Grades 8-11 are scheduled for Monday, June 3; Tuesday, June 4; and Wednesday, June 5. It is important that all students are present for these exams. Please do not arrange vacations during these days. Student trips or vacations will not be approved. Students will not be permitted to take a make-up exam due to a trip.    

Monday, June 3             Religion and Science
Tuesday, June 4            English and Foreign Language
Wednesday, June 5      Math and Social Studies
 
For most students, two exams will be scheduled for each day, except where conflicts will necessitate three. The testing periods will be 60 minutes. Should a student not have an exam until the second testing period, he/she need not report until that time. If a student does not have an exam in the second exam slot, the student is free to leave school at 9:45 AM.
 
Approximate time frame for most students will be 8:15 AM until 11:00 AM. School districts have re-arranged their pick-up times to accommodate our early dismissal at 11 AM.
 
Lunch will not be served on Exam days.
 
For grades 9-11, these semester exams will comprise 1/5 of the second semester grade. Students in grade 8 will prepare for and take a final exam; this will be presented as a learning experience in preparation for the transition into senior high school.
 
In light of the importance of these exams and their scheduling, the only absence that will be accepted on these days will be with a doctor's excuse.

Online Sports Paperwork                                           
Students wishing to participate in athletics during the 2019-2020 school year must submit the following paperwork online at ArbiterAthlete.com no later than Thursday, August 1, at 3 PM; no exceptions.

  • ImPACT Test
If you have not played on a York Catholic athletic team since the online process started last year, ArbiterAthlete accounts must be set-up by each athlete and his or her parent. Please click here for the instructions on how to set-up an account. If you played on a York Catholic athletic team last year, you already have an existing account. Please use the same ID and password you used last year.
 
ALL athletes must upload updated paperwork to be eligible to play during the 2019-20 school year. Doctors' signatures must be dated AFTER June 1, 2019.

Failure to complete the online paperwork by the deadline will mean the student will not be permitted to practice the first day of the season. For some sports, this could mean the student will not make the team. Physicals
York Catholic will host Sports Physicals at OSS Health at 1855 Powder Mill Road in York on Wednesday, June 12, from 6-7:30 PM.  Please do not arrive prior to 5:45 PM.  Cost is $15 -- make checks payable to York Catholic High School.  Please be sure to complete the medical information online (see above) before arriving and only print the 2 pages indicated for the doctor to review and complete.

Nurses & Coach Volunteers Needed                            
Volunteer nurses and coaches are needed for Physical Night at OSS on Wednesday, June 12. Nurse duties include taking blood pressures, pulses, and respiration rates. Coaches will check athletes in and out and measure heights and weights. If you are interested, contact Kyle Smink at [email protected] .

New Parent Orientation
Parents who will be joining the York Catholic family for the first time next year will be attending New Parent Orientation on Wednesday, May 29, from 7-8 PM to get the inside information about YC. Current parents are invited to help answer questions and welcome our new families.
Volleyball Clinic
A free volleyball clinic for boys and girls entering grades 5-7 and led by YC high school players and coaches will take place Thursday, June 6, from 5:30-8:30 PM in the York Catholic gymnasium.
