SPOTLIGHT: New Board Member
Javier Rivera-Rosales is a native San Franciscan, born and raised in the Mission. He has over 8 years of experience working within the non-profit sector. Previously the Director of Positive Images, a non-profit serving the needs of LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, in Sonoma County. Program development, community/event organizing, and using love to balance the hate in our communities are a few of his skills. Some of his passions are: social justice through dance and spoken word, connecting with and nurturing mother nature, and providing space for others to be who they truly are.

JOURNEY TO CUBA: MAY 9-19
Join Rainbow World Fund on our seventh annual humanitarian journey to Cuba.
Our trip focuses on Cuba's history, culture, politics, and spirituality. We will learn from the Cubans about the realities of their country. We'll visit projects that serve the Cuban people and meet with members of the LGBTQ community, politicians, artists, scientists, and leaders in many fields.

We will attend LGBTQ Pride events in Havana and march in solidarity with our Cuban brothers and sisters during the "Conga" - the annual Pride celebration.
TRAVEL WITH A PURPOSE
We will learned about Cuba's colonial past to its revolutionary present, and how the complex historical relationship between the U.S and Cuba remains ever-changing.

- Meet with Mariela Castro and human rights activists
- Visit schools, medical clinics, and the Institute of Tropical Medicine

The cost of our 11day/10 night trip is $2,600 and includes a Cuba travel visa (required), all hotels/accommodations, in-country transportation by private van, all meals (except one), all gratuities, translation and guide services, speakers fees, entrance fees to special events. It does not include round trip air transportation from the USA.

YOU CAN HELP THE CHILDREN OF CUBA AND THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY
In spite of many social advances in Cuba such as a national health care and a free primary through college education. Most Cubans struggle to make ends meet. The average working Cuban makes between $30-40 a month.
Since 2012, RWF has funded projects that help the people of Cuba.
RWF funds summer camps for Cuban children living with HIV, cancer, and other life threatening illnesses.
The camps teach valuable life skills aimed at fostering a healthy self esteem, independence, and self care.
RWF also funds human rights work to help the Cuban LGBTQ community. Most recently RWF funded a conference that brought together church leaders and LGBTQ activists. This was one the first meetings of it's kind in Cuba. At times tense but people were respectful and listened to each other. The dialogue that was started at the conference continues.
