President's Palette

I just returned Sunday from a retreat with your dedicated, talented and hardworking SCAEA board members. We spent several hours Friday night and all day Saturday working to make your South Carolina visual arts organization the best it can be. We approved the building of a new website and created the scaffolding for it, updated descriptions of board members responsibilities, approved the 2018-2019 budget, worked on an advocacy document, and discussed how to better serve and assist our members. How can we serve and assist you? Please let us know.
Are you aware of the grant money available to you?

We are gearing up for our fall conference which will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville on Friday, November 30 - Sunday, December 2, 2018. The theme is "Inspiration and Process". Please make plans to attend. It is going to be fantastic! I will announce the featured artist speakers very soon.

Grant Awards for FY18 should be released sometime in August. The SCDE provides grant funds to schools and districts that propose arts initiatives that will support quality arts education programs that significantly improve student achievement in the arts.
The FY19 grant cycle will be based on the implementation of the NEW South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency.
The new request for proposals is released in January and deadlines for applications are in April.  If you are interested in writing a grant, watch the SCDE website in January for the release of the new RFPs.
