Travel with Or Shalom!

Explore the complex layers of Israel and Palestine with your community on a trip that will be spiritual, thought-provoking, and inspirational.

On our first-ever Or Shalom trip to Israel and Palestine, we will:
  • Meet the People - Encounter Israelis and Palestinians from the many diverse communities of Israel and Palestine. Learn about the inspirational cultural and political work that often escapes our headlines across the ocean.
  • Explore the Land - From the contemporary landscape of borders, checkpoints and security fences to the ruins of ancient Israel, to the natural beauty of desert and water, there is no better way to understand or appreciate a place than to be there in person.
  • Learn and Reflect - Our tour will include time and space for learning, spiritual practice, discussion  and  relaxation.

Considering God Salon
Wednesday, June 20
6:30 pm nosh, 7-9 pm discussion

This month's topic:
In our collaborative social action work with faith-based, God-centered groups or individuals, how can we embrace and communicate our secular, non-theistic Jewish religious/spiritual beliefs in an inclusive, respectful and educational way?

The Considering God Salon is limited to Or Shalom members.

Please contact [email protected] to RSVP or with any questions or concerns.
Pride Shabbat and SF Pride Parade
Friday, June 22 @ 7pm

Join us for a musical Shabbat celebration followed by an exploration of queer Jewish identity led by our own Social Action Fellow and trained Keshet facilitator, Ezra Leventhal!

Alternatively, you can celebrate Pride with Or Shalom  Sunday, June 24, at the San Francisco Pride Parade.  Instead of marching, we will gather in one spot along the parade route and provide joyful music and prayer for marchers and onlookers. Meet at 5th and Market under the Nordstrom Rack sign anytime from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Social Action Torah Study throughout July
Tuesdays, July 11 - August 1, 1:30pm

In Rabbi Katie's absence, our Social Action Fellow Ezra will be stepping in to lead Torah Study!  She will bring her specific insight and knowledge to guide us in an exploration of Torah as it connects to Social Justice themes. No need to RSVP, just show up ready to study!
Or Shalom Community Retreat 2018 was a Hit!

We had a great time at Walker Creek Ranch this year! Retreat highlights included canoeing on Turtle Pond, beautiful hikes, deer sightings, a hilarious Shabbat morning skit by our teens, and uproarious talent show. Find more great pictures on our Facebook page!
