St. Jerome's Episcopal Church
Bible Study
St. Jerome's stands as people of God, with Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are here to represent Christ to all people, act as good stewards to all of God's creation and support each other by sharing our strengths as we continue God's work in the world.

Thursday Great Books Study at 10:30 AM
  Dear Folks:

For our next study, we here at St Jerome's have chosen to move from a specific word study of scripture to look at some of the great themes of the Bible as they are being discussed and lived out by inspirational people of our times. We are beginning with The Book of Joy, written by Douglas Abrams. In this book, Abrams brings to us a week's worth of interaction between the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu around the concept of joy and how they have managed to live joyful lives in the midst of great challenges and suffering. It is our hope, that as we are invited into the joy that these two amazing men share in their relationship, we also will live more into joy as these men have and as Jesus did. "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full." John 15:11

Although we started last week, I did not provide you who follow from afar any guidance as to where we are reading in this book. So please read from the beginning and catch up to the title, Day 1: The Nature of True Joy. It will be a joyful experience!

Questions  for consideration, reflection, and study
1. What is the relationship between happiness and joy?
2.Have you confused the happiness of external factors with the true joy that comes from within?
3. What is this thing called joy, and how is it possible that it can evoke such a wide range of feelings?

As always, I welcome your commentsand/orquestions by email: [email protected]

Bless you,
Colin+
