A Warm Welcome to Illustrator Estelí Meza!

We are thrilled to welcome award-winning Mexican illustrator  Estelí Meza to the Full Circle Literary family!

Estelí was awarded the 2018 A la Orilla del Viento Award -- the premier Picture Book Contest Award in Mexico for her work El príncipe valiente tiene miedo. The book will be published in Spanish by Fondo de Cultura Económica this fall. For the past 10 years, Estelí has worked in book and magazine illustration in Mexico and we're now thrilled to introduce her beautiful artwork to US publishing.

Estelí Meza is an illustrator living in Mexico City. She grew up surrounded by books, and her love for illustration began when she attended la Feria del Libro Infantile with her father. At an early age, she was fascinated with artwork found in the pages of books. She studied Design and Visual Communications with a specialization in Illustration at UNAM.  In 2013, she  was awarded the XVIII Premio International del Libro Ilustrado Infantile y Juvenil de la FILIJ

Her recently published illustrated anthology, Cuentos y Leyendas de América Latina by Gloria Cecilia Diaz (Editorial Anaya, 2018), is a collection of stories paired with her beautiful artwork inspired by the unique cultures of 20 Latin American countries.

Here is a sampling of some of the vibrant interior full-color spreads from Cuentos y Leyendas de América Latina celebrating stories from Ecuador, Uruguay, and Guatemala.

Other recent titles Estelí has illustrated include Domingos en piyama (by Flor Aguilera, Planeta Mexico, 2018)Adiós a los cuentos de hadas (by Elizabeth Cruz Madrid, Editions El Naranjo), and Lino Felino (Editorial 3 Abejas) which will be published by Scholastic Club Leo.

Known for her vivid colors and textures, Estelí works digitally and in mixed media, using acrylic paints, graphite, and colored pencils on cotton paper.   She also illustrates for magazines and corporations such as Nexos and BBMundo magazines, as well as Google and Hola combo. This colorful piece "My Aunt Blossoms" was featured by Google for International Women's Day 2018.

Estelí especially enjoys stories that celebrate women and cultures around the world. These days Estelí spends her days drawing in her Mexico City neighborhood -- she is always happiest with her notebook,  pencil,  chocolate pastry and cafecito.

Currently, Estelí is open to picture book illustration, chapter book illustration, middle grade and book cover illustration projects.  She is also working on her next picture book that she both illustrates and writes.  For more information and to see more samples, please visit her website (coming soon!)  www.estelimeza.com or visit her on Twitter at @esteliilustra  and Instagram   @estelimeza
