Ear Candy & Inspiration for a Sunday (or any) morning
Last Saturday was the annual Bluegrass Day at Three Rivers Arts Festival. The headliner was Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. Here, Ricky & his band offer some stained-glass Bluegrass, with their rendition of the Gospel classic, "Waiting at the Gate."

If you have a musical selection you would like to have featured in this space, we'd love

From the Pastor
Hello all,
This time, I want to announce a sermon series I'll be starting this week.
The series will be called, "What's Your Name Again?" Each week, we will feature individuals in the Bible that you have probably heard of at one time or another, but it's been a long time or never since you have heard a sermon where he or she is featured.
The full richness of the Bible can not possibly be covered in the lectionary, even in three-year cycles. So for the next several weeks, we will steer off that beaten path to explore the faith and lives of people like Obadiah, Rhoda, and more.
My hope of, of course, is that as we explore these stories, not only does our knowledge of scripture expand, but so too does our connection with God -- perhaps in ways we never expected.
See you Sunday, and happy Fathers Day to all!
Peace,
Ben

A note from Stewardship & Finance
by Mark Nootbaar
Members of the Stewardship and Finance Committee review hundreds of numbers, and what we are finding is that "Adult Envelope Offering" is running $10,000 behind expectations. This is the amount donated by individuals who returned commitment cards detailing their expected 2018 gift. If you have fallen behind in your weekly or monthly offering, please make every effort to "catch up," if at all possible.Your timely gift enables Session to better budget for activities, maintenance, and staffing.

Do you do extreme sports?
by Steph Martin
Our theme for VBS this year is "Amped" and we need set pieces to decorate the space. If you have a kayak, snowboard, mountain bike, skis, or any other extreme sporting equipment that you would be willing to let us use as decorations please contact Steph. Even safety equipment like life jackets, kneepads, and helmets would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Extra Caring Sunday
Our Stephen Ministers invite you to be Extra Caring this Sunday. Greet everyone with a smile. Ask them how they really are. Give them an extra hug. Find out if there is anything you can do for them. And let's make Northmont an extra caring place not only today, but every Sunday, and every day.

Please remember in your prayers:
Our pastor, elders, deacons, committee members and all of the Northmont community
Our neighbors
All those affected by war
All those affected by natural disasters
All those affected by school shootings, violent crimes and other senseless acts of violence
All those who must, literally, today pray for their daily bread
All those who must meet secretly, in order to worship God
All those who suffer persecution for loving the Lord
All those in need of healing
All those who are bereaved
Our sister church, Mangochi CCAP, in Mangochi, Malawi
Our sister church, Second Presbyterian Church, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania
Our global mission partners, the Ludwig family, the Weller family, and Kay Day
Members of the congregation who are seeking employment
The leaders of our federal, state, and local governments
All the men and women of our Armed Forces and our Veterans
Our enemies, as God has called us to pray also for them, even as we may not understand why
As The Piper is posted to the World Wide Web, privacy concerns dictate that we no longer publish the entire weekly Prayer Chain. If you would like to receive the Prayer Chain by email, please contact Jane Nicola or the church office.
