Breaking ground at Angelus Village of Manitowoc
|
A groundbreaking for new Chamber Member Angelus Village of Manitowoc took place on Saturday, April 28, at the former Elks Club Golf Course location on Waldo Boulevard.
The property was purchased by a group of local investors who worked with the Angelus Village of Manitowoc, LLC to make Manitowoc home for an Angelus assisted living residence.

May 9 panel discussion
will introduce the DHS's
"See Something - Say Something" campaign

In conjunction with the City of Manitowoc's rollout of its partnership with the US Department of Homeland Security's "See Something - Say Something" public safety and awareness campaign, the City's Safety Committee will be hosting a panel discussion and presentation at the Manitowoc Public Library on Wednesday, May 9, at 7:00pm. (No registration necessary.)
 The speaker panel will include Mr. John E. Busch, Protective Security Advisor - Wisconsin District, US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The presentation will include not only information on the See Something - Say Something campaign, but DHS's new Connect, Plan, Train, and Report program to help prepare businesses and their employees to proactively think about the role they play in the safety and security of their businesses and communities.
Government officials, media partners, business owners, educators, and the general public are invited to attend the presentation and will be given the opportunity to meet with and ask questions of the panelists.

11th Annual
Leadership Manitowoc County Alumni Golf Outing

It's time to get together with past classmates and fellow Leadership Manitowoc County Alumni at the 11th Annual Leadership Manitowoc County Alumni Golf Outing!
The event will once again be hosted by Seven Lakes Golf Course in Cato on Wednesday, May 16. Tee-off is at 3:00pm.
Following the Golf Outing will be the Graduation Dinner for the Leadership Manitowoc County Class of 2017-2018 where this year's graduating class will share their Community Service group project presentations. Social begins at 5:00pm, followed by dinner and the graduation program at 5:30pm.
Everyone is also welcome to attend the dinner!

Manitowoc's Heart-A-Rama: Have a beer, throw some popcorn, laugh to fight heart disease
Heart-A-Rama, in its 48th year, opened April 26 at the Hamilton Community House in Two Rivers.
Established in 1971 by a group of local folks, the founding fathers of Heart-A-Rama began an annual production of vaudeville acts and sketches targeting local events and politicians. If you were the mayor, city manager, sheriff, etc., Heart-A-Rama was out to poke fun at you!
 By the 1980s and into the 1990s, the annual event had become so popular that patrons lined up before 6 a.m. to get first-come, first-served seats for that night's 7:30 p.m. performance! Held annually at what was originally the Boilermakers Club 443 and later Jack's R Better in Manitowoc Rapids, the show moved to the J.E. Hamilton Community House in Two Rivers in 2007.
Beer and wine are served, and popcorn is always free, causing many a popcorn throwing fight! Villains haunt the set, occasionally creeping into the audience to ensnare an innocent patron to drag onto stage for an unanticipated appearance. Fair damsels in distress are often seen, fearfully awaiting rescue. Yet, alas, attendees need not fear, as for every villain, there will be a local hero waiting to swoop in to the rescue! There's even a few sweet young things mixed in the cast!

We are extremely grateful to all of our employees, people around town and so many companies that have helped us manage this uncontrollable growth. Our brand went viral and it is not slowing down.
