In the Spirit of Thanksgiving - Gardening Joy and Gratitude.
“The root of joy is gratefulness… It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.” - David Steindl-Rast
For many people, gardening is a pleasurable hobby that relieves stress, as well as a means to provide a beneficial bounty for the table. It’s an activity where you can be both productive and bring beauty into the world. My life, as you know, began on a farmstead (follow Stories with Nada, a true accounting of my childhood), and through the years and all the life cycle events, gardening has always reeled me in, creating endless joy.
Gardening not only allows one to be creative and productive, it allows the practice of gratitude and joy. When you dig a hole in the ground and take the soil into your hand, you’re participating in a ritual that’s been taking place since the dawn of humankind. If you take a moment and “give thanks for the rich soil in which to grow plants that feed your body and soul”, you are practicing gratitude. When you are weeding, look up for a moment and observe the beautiful sunlight playing off of the leaves on a tree, and experience a feeling of grace; You are not only nourishing your body and soul, you are also practicing gratitude.
As we plant, tend and harvest our Gardens of Hope this season, take just one moment to slow down, pause, take a deep breath, observe, and infuse our senses with the majesty of nature.
Be Joyful, Feel the Gratitude.

The Three Sisters
A Native American Legend
Native Americans tell a story of three sisters who loved and supported one another. This most likely came to pass, when it was realized the planted vegetables represented in this legend, grew successfully, when grown together.

Meet Chef Olga Keller
Olga’s background as a healthcare provider, holistic nutritional coach and raw holistic Chef, changed her perspective on food.
Her core values bring awareness to all that food should not be, in order to look and taste delicious: Chemically processed and containing additives such as sugar, salt, oils, and starches. Creating food to prevent inflammatory responses in the body without compromising the taste and nutritional value is her specialty.
Olga is a passionate believer that everything we do in life should bring us joy. Daily meditations, Qigong, yoga, fitness, and conscious mindful living bring balance to her life.
Olga Keller is a member of the Joseph P Cory Foundation’s JOPCO consortium of health and wellness professionals.

Look what we we made today! A perfect Thanksgiving side dish.

Plumosa School of the Arts prepared a bountiful Corn Salsa during their Three Sisters lesson. Herbs and vegetables grown in their school garden, were added to compliment the recipe. Tastings were successful, and everyone better understood the "cooperation" and "support" that the Legend had provided.
