Assessing the Impact of Rideshare
One new and timely Community Organizing grantee, United Taxi Workers Union of San Diego, formed out of a taxi workers’ strike in 2009. The UTWSD has united workers to create a professional working environment free from humiliation, intimidation, discrimination and exploitation. We could not fund their work without your commitment to social justice. Fighting Inequity in Birth Outcomes
Springfield Community-Based Doula Initiative (SCBDI) is dedicated to improving the birth outcomes for low-income and women of color living in and around Springfield, Mass. SCBDI joined PDF’s fiscal sponsorship program in late 2016.

Since joining PDF's program, SCBDI has received more funding and support than ever before. Square One in Holyoke, a child care agency, has teamed up with PDF and SCBDI to train family service staff how to support expecting mothers who are struggling with methadone addiction. Baystate Hospital's Healthy OBGYN Department has provided funding to train doulas to meet the needs of low-income families and single mothers.

Leaders of SCBDI say, “ Organizations don’t succeed without partners and collaborations. We are stronger when we have help like the support PDF offers. Receiving fiscal sponsorship from PDF was a big boost in our confidence as a group .”

Building the Capacity of Activists
"We are thrilled to be a part of The Sustainability Project! Support for building the skills, knowledge and power of rural LGBTQ people is so rare and so critical.

"This is what we need to build and sustain a strong movement over time. We are so thankful to PDF for seeing and meeting these kinds of needs within our community."

HB Lozito, Executive Director,  Green Mountain Crossroads

PDF’s Sustainability Project is a three-year, capacity building program open to recent grantees and fiscally sponsored projects. Because of the generosity and vision of our donors, this May we welcomed: The Alliance to Mobilize Our Resistance, FRESH New London, Green Mountain Crossroads, Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment and The Treaty Awareness Campaign into The Sustainability Project.
