June 13 E-News

Rector's Corner
Dear Church Family,
Thank you so much to everyone who made last Sunday's Parish Picnic such a success! We had about 80 people all together gather for Mass on the Grass. A special thank you goes out to all of our faithful Vestry members who helped with grilling, set up and clean up. Be sure to look at the pictures below! The rain stayed away and a wonderful time was had by all!  I wonder who finally won the kids combined soccer/volleyball game!
This Sunday is not only Father's Day and the start of Summer Vacation, it is also the start of Summer Church.  Our services will stay at  8 a.m. and 10 a.m. for the summer. We will be switching to a reusable summer bulletin. It is short and sweet. Be prepared to use our hymnals and prayer books  on Sunday!  This summer we have some of what I like to think of as "Jesus's greatest hits." This week we have the famous parable of the mustard seed reminding us that amazing things sometime show up in small packages.  Join your church family  this Sunday as we explore this famous parable.

Blessings,
Rev. Emily+

AND for those with gardens who like to freeze things for the winter, we have 2 vacuum food sealers, one Rival and one Food Saver model.  Both work and come with a supply of bags, yours for $35 each (retails for around $100 not including bags).   If you are interested, please email Barbara: bkandreassen@comcast.net .
  • The WSP is also selling items on E-Bay, if you'd like to sell things through the WSP to help pay down the building loan, contact Barbara. If you are selling things on your own you can designate The Women of St. Peter's to receive a percentage as a charity.  Check us out and see what we are selling now:  https://charity.ebay.com/charity/Women-of-St.-Peters/105463 .
  • The WSP is collecting copy paper boxes with lids.  We need 20 of the 10 ream paper size by the end of July.  If you can save some from your work or other source, it would be much appreciated.  Please bring them to church and leave them in the coat closet.  They are for packing up a rummage donation that is coming in August.  Thank you!
  • Summer Office Hours are Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Music Camp is cancelled for this summer due to low enrollment.
  • Please join Sandy Miller at 9am each Sunday for Practicing Our Faith - take a journey through The Book of Common Prayer, the Christian life, and basic beliefs of our faith in this 26-session. You do not need to attend all sessions to get something out of this study so join whenever you are able!  See how our prayer shapes our belief and our lives and how our beliefs lead us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.  Even though we pray the words of The Book of Common Prayer each week, many of us don't know where these prayers come from, what they mean, or how they call us to live on a daily basis.
  • Education for Ministry Enrollment for Fall 2018 -- Have you ever wanted to take a deeper dive into your faith or wonder what ministry God is calling on you to do as one of his disciples? Than please join us on Monday nights starting in September.  EFM is not seminary and there are no grades, it is just a group of committed Christians who explore more fully their work as disciples through weekly guided discussions and readings and fellowship.  For more information or to sign up please talk to or e-mail Sally Lermond at sallymullen7@gmail.com; Tracey Forfa, tforfa@gmail.com, Rev. Emily or Mary Pat Wilson.  We look forward to having you join us!!!

  • Youth Mission Trip The youth of St. Peter's are traveling to Cincinnati to serve and share God's love for their summer mission trip!  We are selling "shares" in our trip. Each share is only $20.  As a shareholder you share in the mission of our trip.  We will update you with a postcard during our week away.  We will also hold a shareholders dinner to thank you and to report on your investment!  You can support an individual youth going on the trip, or the trip in general.  Please put "youth mission trip" and the youth's name if applicable in the memo of a check made out to St. Peter's.  Drop it by the office anytime or contact Katie Longbrake (klongbrake@gmail.com or 240-477-0414) with any questions.  Thank you for your support!
