Write It Down!

A Note From Pastor Linda

The plans of the diligent lead to profit. ~Proverbs 21.5

Dear Church Family-

First- WOW and THANK YOU!! The Big Ring and Sing is in the books for another year; from the Bell Choir's "rocking" opener to the soft sound of the earth... and Hosanna Choir's tour through God's Word from Old to New Testament... the morning worship was filled with the WORD of God set to music.

Now, back to business. I'm sure that you have heard it said that if you want to achieve a goal- write it down! On Sunday, I asked each of you to WRITE DOWN (on the post-it note provided) the name of at least TWO people that you could INVITE to church... and then to do it!

Why does writing down your goals help? Why go through all the extra work to write something down when you can simply store it in your brain? (Do I really even need to answer this?) Consider these concepts from the computing world- external storage and encoding:
  • External storage: You store the information in a location that is very easy to access (a piece of paper) and can be easily reviewed (place that post-it in a location where you can SEE it every day!).
  • Encoding: Encoding is the biological process of remembering- writing improves that process!

But there's more! Writing things down also makes your mind more efficient by helping you focus on the REALLY important stuff... and what could be more important than the mandate by Jesus to his followers: MAKE DISCIPLES!! These were Jesus' final words to his followers in Matthew's gospel as he ascended into heaven. On Sunday you will hear Jesus' final words as recorded by John. They will sound like this: FISH- FEED and FOLLOW!! (John 21)

Remember the worship time-change this Sunday to one service at 9:30 AM. Write it down!!

JUST DO IT- Be the Church!

 ~Pastor Linda
