Season 14 launch May 11
 
What's coming up for the SSO next season?
 
Join us on Friday, May 11, for a preview of the SSO's Season 14. The launch site is Avondale United Church in Stratford and the program begins at 4:30 p.m.
 
Judy Maddren, former longtime host of CBC Radio's World Report, will emcee the event and William Rowson, principal conductor, will take you on a tour (via video on the big screen) of next season's concert highlights.
 
Music by SSO musicians (of course) and refreshments for all. This will be a great opportunity to purchase your season subscription (and save a bundle).

Season 13 finale May 12
    
Celebrating Women:
Music for the Heroine  


In its final concert of Season 13, Celebrating Women: Music for the Heroine, the Stratford Symphony will recognize the centennial of women securing the right to vote in Canadian federal elections on May 24, 1918.

Lally Cadeau 
A wide-ranging program for the May 12 concert will pay tribute to the impact of women, then and now, on Canadian society.
  
Lally Cadeau, of Road to Avonlea fame, will appear as Emily Stowe, one of Canada's first female doctors and an early activist for the rights of women, reading "Uppity Women Unite," written by Jean Hewitt, Stratford.
 
Donna Bennett 
Soprano Donna Bennett will be featured, and
Sara Sobey 
vocalist Sara Sobey will make her debut with the SSO. Daniel Warren will conduct.
 
The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be held in the SSO's new venue, Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Avenue.
 
Tickets are available at Fanfare Books and Blowes Stationery in Stratford and at Lyric Flowers in St. Marys, as well as online. Adult: $40; student: $10. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Come to season's final Sunday Brunch Concert

A cadre of winners in the 2018 Kiwanis Festival will be featured performers in the season finale for the Sunday Brunch Concert Series May 6.
 
They include Sebastian Hamper Addis (piano); Hannah Bennett (speech arts); Hannah Blackburn and Natalie Ropp (flutes); Sydney Harvey (musical theatre and classical voice); and Hannah Thomas (musical theatre and pop voice).
 
The brunch venue is Revival House, 70 Brunswick Street, Stratford. Brunch begins at 11:30 a.m.
