Morning Coffee Inspiration from Pastor Gae

Aloha Friends,

I just returned from a whirlwind trip to the mainland to see my new grandbaby and to celebrate the 90th birthday of my mother. I did have an opportunity to visit two labyrinths (you’ve heard about our new labyrinth!) and, as I love to do, attended a Sunday worship service. I went to the Franciscan Renewal Center (aka CASA) in Scottsdale. I chose to go there because their mission is to “renew lives through spiritual growth, healing and transformation, and service to others.” CASA offers counseling and recovery ministries, workshops, prayer groups, labyrinth walks and even spa weekends! I see a bit of CASA in our little church.

Franciscans are known for beautiful, creative liturgy. This church was no exception. The sanctuary was very contemporary with lots of color. The music was led by two cantors and the message was given by a young Franciscan friar who spoke of God as “mother” (it was Mother’s Day!)
In the CASA bulletin was a message from one of the Friars, Herve Lemire. It inspired me, so I thought I’d share it with you:

Amazing People

Most of us have come to the realization in our life’s journeys, that there seems to be a role for everyone we meet. Curiously, some folks will test you, and unfortunately, some folks will use you.

The good news is that some will love you and some will teach you. The ones who are truly important are the ones who bring out the best in you. They are the rare and amazing people who remind us that we are indeed, each of us, worthy, capable persons, precious in the eyes of God, and loved unconditionally by our Creator. These folks help raise our self-esteem and build up our levels of self-confidence so that we become more willing to try new things moving forward.

These amazing people in our lives help us to understand no amount of self-imposed guilt can change our past, and that no amount of fear or worry can change our future. They help us understand that faith is not believing that God can, but rather, it is knowing God will, and that trusting God completely takes a huge burden off our shoulders.

So why are there not more people like these amazing ones in the world? Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So, for now, laugh at the confusion, reject the put downs, smile through the tears, and be all that you can be.

By the way, we are called, you and I, and sent by God Himself (each one of us) to be for others one of those amazing people. Happy trails. ~Peace and Good, Deacon Herve Lemire, OFM

In our Master’s love,
Pastor Gae+

PRAY
Special Ministry of Christ Memorial ~ Open for Prayer
Monday-Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Feeling a little overwhelmed with life? Just drop in to Christ Memorial for a little peace and quiet.

One important ministry of Christ Memorial is the opening of our church doors, Monday through Friday, during the day. It’s amazing the number of people who drop in to pray, meditate, or just to seek a few minutes of quiet. Unfortunately fear has crept into many churches. Pastor Gae believes our country would be very different if all churches kept their doors unlocked.
GIVE
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Malachi 3:10
