ATTENTION ALL 4TH AND 5TH YEAR APPRENTICES!
YOU ARE REQUIRED TO VOTE ON THURSDAY, JUNE 13TH, 2019

Volunteers Needed! Applicant Hands-On Testing
Apprentices! We are looking for volunteers to help run hands-on testing stations. This is your opportunity to help us evaluate the skill sets of candidates who want to join our programs.

Dates & Times
  • Saturday, June 1, 2019 - volunteers arrive by 7am; testing from 8am to 2:45pm
  • Saturday, June 15, 2019 - volunteers arrive by 7am; testing from 8am to 4pm

We will provide lunch to all volunteers.

Washington State Apprentice Competition - Highlights
Kaitlin Black - Steamfitter competition; Jared Kraft - Welder competition: and Eric Hladilek - Commercial Plumber competition;
Congratulations to the apprentices who represented Seattle Area Pipe Trades at the annual Washington State Apprentice Competition at UA Local 598, Pasco.

Competitors are selected because they earn the top score in their 5th Year Trade Review class. Winners of the state competition can move on to the Region 5 competition. The winners at regional levels compete each August in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the top national honor.

This year, ERIC HLADILEK won the state Plumber competition. KAITLIN BLACK and JARED KRAFT both took second place in the Steamfitter and Welder competitions, respectively.
Mock Interview Night - Thursday, June 20
Volunteer & Meet Applicants
Women in the Pipe Trades has enjoyed a successful and effective run with offering Mock Interviews to the first 50 applicants who contact us. It is a 3 hour, evening event that includes a panel discussion about the SAPT interview process, followed by group interviews of applicants. The event is entirely run by apprentices.

We're looking for more volunteers, so we can continue to accommodate the growing number of people who want to attend this event. All apprentices are welcome to support this event!

Apprentice Outreach - Highlights!
MLK Labor Council - Career Showcase

Our thanks to GREG GRANT , 3rd Year Residential Plumber apprentice, for hosting our outreach table at this inaugural event. He met with high school students graduating from 7 local districts, and later in the day, adults who are work ready.

Washington Women in Trades (WWIT) Fair

SAPT apprentices hosted two demos at the 40th annual WWIT fair. Our thanks to SARA SELEGA and her team, including LAURA STOGIN, ERICA RAMIREZ, ROYALE TAYAH, LORI SHIA, JACQUIE CHRISTIAN, MONIQUE STOWERS , and JENNIFER MERCER . This is a premiere event at Seattle Center that draws thousands of school age and adults considering trades careers.
