Freightliner unveils two more electric trucks, eCascadia and eM2
Freightliner Trucks, a division of Portland, Oregon-based Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA), introduced two fully electrified commercial vehicles, the Freightliner eCascadia heavy-duty truck and the Freightliner eM2 106 medium-duty truck. Full story

Lightning Systems wins California ZEV approval for its electric vans
Electric van developer Lightning Systems received California air regulators' approval for its Ford Transit 350 HD conversion in both 50- and 100-mile range versions. The company also said it has qualified the vans for inclusion in California's hybrid and electric vehicle incentive program - HVIP. Full story

Ryder orders 500 Chanje electric vans
Ryder System ordered 500 Chanje Energy battery-electric panel vans and will add the medium-duty vehicles to its ChoiceLease truck leasing program. The order will be executed as lease agreements, and Ryder will also offer its SelectCare maintenance product with the vehicles. Full story

Canadian company tests system that converts CO2 into fuel
A Canadian startup is testing a system that sucks carbon dioxide from the air and converts it into fuel for cars and other vehicles. Carbon Engineering Ltd.'s technique combines several common manufacturing processes and eventually will be able to produce fuel for about $4 a gallon. Full story
