The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

On June 3 nearly 1,000 leaders from the Orange County legal, business and civic communities will gather for the Public Law Center's annual Volunteers for Justice Dinner.  Please join PLC for this inspiring event that also provides an opportunity to support the over 1,600 volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students who work with PLC to provide free legal services to low income residents.

June 20-23 - SABA North America Annual National Conference 
The South Asian Bar Association of North America ("SABA North America") will be holding its Annual National Conference at W Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia. Tickets are almost sold out for this year's conference, themed "Rise Up & Represent." Conference rate is available at the W Midtown until June 1.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: July 13-14 High School Mock Trial Championship
Volunteers are needed for a couple of hours to judge at the 1-on-1 high school mock trial world championship, July 13-14 at the Newport Beach Harbor Justice Center.   
 
Each year, approximately one-third of the participants are students of color, and about 15% identify as Asian. But only about 10% of the volunteer judges/scorers are attorneys of color, and even fewer are Asian.   
   
The competition includes 48 outstanding students from across the country. No preparation is required, as there is a short orientation before each trial. Food is provided, and parking is free. If you sign up with an attorney colleague or friend, they will make sure to put you in the same trial.   
 
If you have any questions, please contact tournament coordinator, Justin Bernstein at bernstein@law.ucla.edu. For planning purposes, signups are requested by June 30, but will be taken after that date. 
 

DEADLINE AUGUST 11 - NCVAA Law Student Scholarship    
The National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys has announced the Luu-Ng Family Trust Scholarship in honor of Hai Vinh Luu and My Thi Dang in the amount of $5,000.

HOW TO APPLY: Vietnamese-American law students enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school for the 2019-2020 academic year are eligible for the Luu-Ng Family Trust Scholarship. Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to the public interest, and service to underprivileged communities. Proof of enrollment is required. Priority consideration will be given to applicants exhibiting the greatest levels of financial need. One winner will be selected. The Luu-Ng Family Trust Scholarship and the NCVAA Law Scholarship will be presented at the 13th Annual National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys in Dallas, Texas on October 4-5, 2019. The Scholarship recipient will receive a complimentary invitation and is highly encouraged but not required to attend or participate in the Conference.

Veterans Legal Institute (VLI) invites you to the Lawyers for Warriors annual event for an evening of fun, networking, wine, cigars, delectable appetizers, and surprises. The PLC staff can answer any questions you may have related to your case to support you in your pro bono representation; locate a mentor to help you; supply you with samples and manuals (some case types excluded); provide translation support in Spanish and Vietnamese; and arrange for office space for you to meet with your client at PLC.
